tazzy007 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Hi ALL Here's what I have been busy building. My Dragon Attack Hope you all enjoy it. It took me a good few week's to build it. 001 by tazaboo, on Flickr 002 by tazaboo, on Flickr 004 by tazaboo, on Flickr Quote
Nightstalker Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 This is a pretty impressive build! Just a couple of quick tips: 1) Try to use dark gray/dark bley slopes to mask the BURP pieces along the back of the MOC. It adds some more detail and can mask the usage of BURP's. 2) The water looks good, but since the stream/river is being formed by a waterfall, using clear tiles along with the blue ones can give the appearance of moving water. 3) The tops of the keep/fort/building could be fleshed out some more. Maybe adding some flags or even adding some form of cover could make it stand out a bit more. 4) In terms of minifig posing, since the figs are moving towards the dragon, you could try positioning their legs to make it appear as though they are running. As it is now, they are just standing still. Now then, cool things about this build (because there is a lot going on here): 1) The waterfall design looks pretty cool. Nice addition of the clear pieces to show the impact of the waterfall 2) The foliage is pretty well spread out and the rock work in the river/stream is pretty good. 3) The angular corners on the right most part of the keep/fort/etc. are pretty good! 4) Nice recolor of the Castle catapult! All in all, it is a good build! Keep working at it, and you can make it a great build Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Wow, that landscaping is amazing! I do have to agree that you might have to add trans-clear pieces so that it shows that the water is moving fast, other than that it is pretty good! Keep up the good work! :-) Quote
tazzy007 Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Hi Both Thank you for all the tips. I would of added some flags but I don't have enough space because of the shelf above. The BURPS i really don't know how to do rock face's very well and could really do with someone doing a guide on building them. Quote
Nightstalker Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Here is a good example on covering up the BURP's http://mocpages.com/moc.php/64972 http://www.classic-castle.com/howto/articles/landscapehowto.html (go to the part on Rocks) Quote
tazzy007 Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 Thank you for the links Nightstalker. So all its is is slopes on slopes? Quote
Darkdragon Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Great build, Tazzy. I especially like the landscaping you've got going on around the waterfall area. Quote
Nightstalker Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Thank you for the links Nightstalker. So all its is is slopes on slopes? Slopes, mixtures of plants, and other bricks. It's mostly up to you how you want to go about it. I just figured those would help. Quote
mpoh98 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Lovely work! Would be even better if you made the dragon out of lego pieces, but otherwise nice work! Quote
tazzy007 Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 Thanks mpoh98 I would love to build a dragon out of Lego but it would take me forever as i'm not to good a build yet. Quote
