LegoThomas Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Hey everybody. This is my first moc since i was a little kid. Now, 15 years later, lotr brought me back to collecting lego. The Helms Deep set always felt incomplete to me. So when i first saw eurolocks huge moc i was amazed and wanted to do something on my own. So here is my version. I know it's not accurate like in the movies, but i ran out of bricks... Sorry for my english and sorry for the crappy pictures ( my camera broke down and i had to use my smartphone.) Critics and comments are welcome. Greetings, LegoThomas http://i.cubeupload.com/GZNql9.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/KkK4Pm.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/DKoLbA.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/oxRbeK.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/W65iHs.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/E3EllM.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/B8dqmY.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/KznhS5.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/MklEqb.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/fdIxXB.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/hwBxl2.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/PKNNgM.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/RiMPSH.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/lOKOui.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/adXvYT.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/akhVBV.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/EJDcRi.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/Pr8Ax6.jpg http://i.cubeupload.com/45qqVP.jpg Quote
Lynx Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I'm a big fan of incorporating official sets into MOCs, or rather expending official sets. Well done! Two suggestions to (i) improve movie accuracy and (ii) aesthetics: (i) you could flatten the walls from the Uruk-hai army sets. The movie version of the Deepingwall is flat - aside from one bulge close to the Hornburg. (ii) you could smoothen out the contrast between your great rock work and the top of the section leading into the caves. I also like the interior set-up. May I ask where you got the hair piece for Theoden from? I have one from Thor, which is much lighter in colour. Yours is perfect! Quote
LegoThomas Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks for the suggestions! I need to pic up new bricks first. Then i'll give it a try. The hairpice for Theoden is from 7189 ("Kingdoms Windmill"). But I also got it from build-a-figure in a Lego store. Fits perfect. ;-) Quote

I'll have a look for that piece. Wish I had known it when I visited the Berlin LEGO store last year. No such luck in Australia. Quote
VWcharger69 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 It's really a great MOD of "Helms Deep". Even, as you said it isn't accurate, your MOD reflect on the proportions beetween the castle and the wall. I love this idea and how you realize it. I hope you can get enough minifig to put on and replay the scene of the film. Goog luck. Quote
mpoh98 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Wow, fantastic work! I like how you added the keep to the back, it is more accurate. If you could just make it a little more accurate, it would be great! Also, it looks like you used LEGO's design, and just bought lots of extensions. I think it would be awesome if you made your own. But fantastic work otherwise! Quote
LegoThomas Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Thanks. Adding a keep to the actual set was my first intention when i started. Then i got more bricks and the rocks were born. But i tried to continue the original design, like the corners of the keep or the top of the walls. I liked how they looked. Except for the catapults. ;-) Quote
