Drachmyre Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I have a bunch of castle theme I'm going to eBay, mostly older sets and a bunch of minifigs. (This is not a for sale post :) my question is.. What's the best timing going into the holidays? Is the first week of December good? Enough time for the week long auction and then shipping to get there before Christmas? Would the last week in November be better? Quote
Lego Otaku Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Sunday evening usually works the best but probably not the Sunday after USA Thanksgiving (Dec 1) as people probably spent too much on Black Friday. Quote
HawkLord Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 A lot would depend on your seller rating. If it's too low, I would start the auctions sooner to give buyers a sense of confidence that if things don't work out it can be resolved in time. Generally, I would look at the end of November. Quote
Drachmyre Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 300ish feedback. Member since 99. Interesting point though... Week before thanksgiving then? Quote
HawkLord Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Hmm... 300 feedback since '99 - how much of that is current? Also how much of this type of item do you sell? Those would both be two other major factors people would look at when buying from you. For example, if I was a buyer looking at your auctions, I would scrutinize over the lower feedback score given the lengthy timeframe - obviously this isn't a business to you, so that would play into the buyer's perspective (especially depending on the value of the items selling). With that said, I would still vote for maybe the day or a couple days before Thanksgiving. Quote
Drachmyre Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 I have maybe 30 sales this year. Was all Lego except I sold a PS vita. With buyer protection I'm not sure if it is quite as big a deal. As you said, I'm not a retailer or chain seller. I do have enough current sales to have detailed seller. So you think having the auction running during thanksgiving is a good idea... Or are you meaning plan to have it END a few days before thanksgiving? Quote
HawkLord Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I'd have it run thru Thanksgiving. Maybe even post it Thanksgiving Day if you have to. That way you can catch Black Friday and Cyber Monday for people shopping online. During that time period, people tend to spend the most money. Quote
