SMC Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) Hi all I was just wondering if anyone had any good techniques for putting on capes when there is a large head piece, the ones I am thinking of are: Haldir, Saruman, Gandalf with hair, Gandalf the White and Elrond. Because the cape is made to come away from the body when the large hair piece goes on it squashes the cape, is there any way to keep the cape in good condition or at leat to make it look good when on. I think Lego really need to make a different cape that fits flush against the body for figures like these, one of the dwarf has a cape with just one hole and this means it does fit well even with the hair. Alfadas Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I agree with you, the capes look really ugly and can't be used on other figs when there is a large hair piece. I mean, the dwarves have capes, but they stay in good condition, because they have one hole. Make normal capes with one hole, please! Quote
deskp Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Darth Malgus cape is ideal for the elves, Its also slimmer so it looks more right. Quote

Yup - I had the same problem with Lego pieces. The issue is with how the cape is cut for the fold. When I started making my own capes I made the incision smaller and shortened the cape. kermit Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I wish lego would just make cloth capes instead to get around this problem. Quote
mpoh98 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I just kinda deal with having a slight crease where the two holes meet, when I put on the hair/quiver. It would be great if Lego made a way to get around this. Quote
Deathleech Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Ya, the little point on the back of the capes is annoying with long hairs figs because it gets smushed down and crumples the cape. I just don't even use the capes most the time on these figures. Quote
CardinalBricks Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 (edited) I absolutely HATE damaging my capes ! The thing I do when there is a big headpiece is find a minifigure with the exact same cape and put it on the new figure, and vice versa. The reason I do this is that the other cape bends easier, as I have had it for longer, and therefore doesn't damage it as much as the new one. Also, if you have the Palpatine's Arrest set, Kit Fisto's head mold had a slight groove in it, so it could go over the cape and the cape not get damaged. I wish TLG would do that more !
