selfshot Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Hello everyone, Last week, enjoying a 9 day off from work due to national holiday i decided to create something small with loads of wheels. A friend of mine joined my epic quest(!) to build my vehicle. Idea started making something, literally *something* like some sort of a military personnel carrier but took a spontaneous course and turned out to be this; As topic title gives a hint, we don't know what kind of a vehicle it turned out to be. I'll leave that up to your imagination :) I'll avoid posting all the pictures here and cause picture clutter, here you can find other pictures of it on my Flickr photostream; http://www.flickr.com/photos/orcunablak Spread to around 5 days, it took around 23 hours to plan and put that together and another 7 hours for the filming and digital processing. Even though it has 3 minifigures in the cabin it's bigger than minifig scale. It is driven by an XL motor and steered by an M motor. Steering was problematic for me to plan since i consider myself to still be an amateur about this and have never tried some steering like that before so i had to turn back to "the" method for me that helped me out on my other mocs. A design i found here some time ago, credit goes to him; (Thanks if you are here reading this) http://lego-tech.16mb.com/lego-technics/steering-system It performs quite well inside my house on the floor and the dining table, lol! Has trouble on the carpet, picking up every single hair, bird feather and such rolling around the 24t gear. Outside, as seen at the end of this post performs 6/10 in my opinion considering it's lenght, built, tire size and lack of suspension factors. It can't get past a pea sized rock directly, starts skidding on dry leaves or patch of sand/soil, again as shown in the video. It mainly contains pieces from 3221 "Lego" truck as you can get the hint of it from the stickers on the sides, no else special parts. Video is not perfect, we just kinda got tired i guess or simply not enough experienced in making one. In the end, we enjoyed the long time we spent making it, feeling like 10 years old kids playing with Lego's on the carpet :) It didn't fail my expectations and now is -prettifying- my shelf for a while. I hope it was somewhat an amusing post as it's my first MOC to talk/post about and hope you like the video! All the best. /O Quote
Saberwing40k Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 That's cool, I thought for sure it was supposed to be an airport firetruck, but with the hatch in the rear, it's more like an APC. Maybe you could build it in white as a field ambulance, or something? Quote
Waterkamp Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 looks like an RV that Heisenberg would use to cook...... Quote
nikolyakov Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 It looks like a hybrid between garbage truck and mobile headquarter :) Quote
clarkdef Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 That's so cool man, really out of the box, I will try to make something like this for my son! Inspired. Quote
Doc_Brown Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Thats really awesome! Reminds me of something you would see in Thunderbirds. How did you make the smoke at the end? Quote
SheepEater Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I love it when people make City/Technic hybrid MOCs Quote
dr_spock Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Looks about the right size for a GoPro delivery truck. Quote
Rockbrick Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 put a hose on top and it looks like an airport fire engine Quote
selfshot Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Thank you all for your positive feedback, very much appreciated. That's cool, I thought for sure it was supposed to be an airport firetruck, but with the hatch in the rear, it's more like an APC. Maybe you could build it in white as a field ambulance, or something? Thanks. Like i said, majority of the pieces covering the sides are the big panels from 3221 set. I don't have that big of pieces in different colors. An APC would be cool but it'd require reverse curves with slope pieces in gray-black ish colors which i lack. And coming from a country where Lego does not sell online via s@h or pick a brick feature to order specific pieces. So, collecting cheaper sets :) looks like an RV that Heisenberg would use to cook...... Yea, that reminded us as well :) Funny, the figure has similar looks as well other than the cap. That's so cool man, really out of the box, I will try to make something like this for my son! Inspired. PM me if you ever need detailed pictures than the ones in my Flickr to help you out before i unmake it soon. Thats really awesome! Reminds me of something you would see in Thunderbirds. How did you make the smoke at the end? Thanks Doc! The smoke is simply a drag of cigarette :) Dry ice would do a similar job. Also, turns out when you clean your desk with a desk-table cleaning spray before you -apply- a smoke effect it kind of makes the smoke attached to the surface, which looks very cool :) Quote
Hrafn Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Neat! It looks like some sort of schoolbus on steroids, to me, because of the yellow color. Maybe a schoolbus for Antarctica? Quote
