thiot Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 My name is Pierce and I've been following the site for the last 2 years. I recently attended BrickCon in Seattle - my first convention - and really enjoyed the experience. I work in advertising and film in Los Angeles. I'm an art director / graphic designer. I've loved LEGO since I was little. They were my favorite toy. As an adult, I appreciate LEGO even more than before; they are some of the most beautifully designed products in the world. I'm amazed by the simplicity of the connecting; it's impressive that the same bricks built decades ago can still fit perfectly with the newest bricks. Two and a half years ago, a good friend and professional mentor of mine had the opportunity to create a short film about the connection my friend has with his son through LEGO. We filmed him and his son going to Denmark for a tour. Working on this project pulled me out of my "dark ages" very quickly. Here's the film: https://vimeo.com/55116920 Shortly thereafter, I bought a set on ebay that I had always wanted as a child; the 4558 Metroliner. As a child, I remember looking through the LEGO catalogue wishing for that beautiful train. Once I bought this train, I couldn't stop. I now collect the mostly City/Town, Modular, and Train. I fell in love with the Monster Fighters line as well. The Haunted House is one beautiful set. I have a few UCS Star Wars models, and about 80% of the collectible minifigures. Those have been a lot of fun chasing down. I have enjoyed building modular buildings in LDD and am in the process of getting bricks to build some of my first MOC modulars. This is a small sample of my city. I didn't really lay it out with the intention of sharing, so there are no figures out. It was just a shot I snapped on my phone, but can give a preview of the sets I have. Also, I'm new to flickr and new to posting images on here, so I'll be learning how to better share images. Thanks for stopping by. Quote
eurotrash Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Welcome to Eurobricks, Thiot!, and we look forward to your Modular MOCs. Oh, you're right about that Metroliner - it is a classic. Quote
Andy D Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 (edited) Pierce, welcome to EB. That is quite an interesting way to get dragged out of your "dark ages". Your city looks very busy, I wish you luck with your remodel. Finally it is good to see another member from So. Cal. I hope you enjoy your stay here. I have found the folks here to be very frinedly and supportave. Andy D Edited October 17, 2013 by Andy D Quote
thiot Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 Andy, I agree that it's an interesting way to be plucked out of the dark ages. It's been a great deal of fun, however. It's nice living in the area. I have three LEGO stores all within an hour. Feel pretty lucky. Quote

Leo604 Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 What about the Clippers? no love? Only for Chris Paul; Blake Griffin shows off too much, and DeAndre Jordan sucks at free throws. The Clippers are probably gonna win the division barring a GS surge in success. Quote
