thoduo Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 When I was younger, my Bionicle figures would often get loose within months or just simply crack. I want to start collecting Hero Factory figures but I would like to know if this issue has been addressed in any way. I like to play with my figures lightly, as well as change up poses 24/7. Quote

Really? That sounds awesome. It's my only issue with action figures in general. I can't stand it. I want to collect and play with them so badly but the thought of joints becoming too loose to enjoy is almost terrifying. I've always liked the look of Bionicle figures and their poseability. Can they really be played with without becoming loose or fragile? I'm about to order 4 Brain Attack figures. Quote

Jetrax99 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) Some parts on my Furno 2.0 developed hairline cracks as well as Evo 2.0's hand, but none big enough to make the joint loose it's grip or break. I say go for it. You certainly won't regret it. Edited October 15, 2013 by Jetrax99 Quote
Aanchir Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 In general, I haven't experienced any problems with the new joint style introduced in 2011. I feel more comfortable building with these joints than I felt with any BIONICLE sets since the beginning of 2005! Of course, some sets produced during the transition period can include older joints as alternates. My Jetbug set from 2011 had the older (brittle) Y-joints, and my brother's Toxic Reapa set from 2012 had Shadow Matoran feet with the older joint style. Later production runs of these sets corrected these issues, but it's still a bit of a mystery what those sets will contain until you open the package. Any 2013 sets should be 100% safe. Quote

On that note I'd like to mention I got a Rotor with the new 2011 sockets, bizarrely enough (though I also bought him in 2011, he was on sale in my LEGO store back then). But just like most other folks here already stated: The new joints remedied the issues the older sockets had. They hold more weight than the old ones introduced within the Slizers, but they don't tend to crack like the later Bionicle joints. In 2012 LEGO also introduced the friction joints, which can even hold more weight than the regular joints. Quote
arc Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I haven't had many problems with the older bionicle sets, but in 2008 they changed the joints. these new type had several problems, such as becoming loose, cracking, and snapping. but the new 2011 hero factory joints seem to hold up well. I would recommend them. Quote
