jantjeuh Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I just ordered a new RC buggy motor because I want to build some fast racers. I'm wondering about how well the motor mixes with PF parts though. Is it safe to connect the RC buggy motor to the PF receiver? And would both v1 and v2 of the PF receiver work? As a power supply I will use the rechargeable PF battery box. Quote
Theo van Vroenhoven Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 You probably want to build something like this: http://www.jurgenstechniccorner.com/redracecar.html I built it last weekend myself and it works fine with RC buggy + V1 receiver. I used the cheap small battery box instead of the rechargeable however. Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 I was wondering if the RC buggy can reach its full potential with the V1 receiver, as its maximum current is limited? V2 can sustain more IIRC. Quote
sunnykoomos Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 The rc motor max current is 3.2A,about 1.4A in normal loading. The V1 limit at 400mA per port so it can't really handle a rc motor(it still work but can't go to full speed). The V2 can handle 1.5A per port so it is just perfect with one rc motor. However, the lego standard battery box has a current protection. -AA 850mA max -AAA 400mA max -Lipo 1A (also 850mA,but lower voltage allow more current) Although current is limited, but it will still be able to working with more motors http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ef9aFt9grk The buggy in the video,I used 2 Lipo bbox with 4 rc motors+1 M motor for steering.Still working pretty well. All data from philo... http://www.philohome.com/motors/motorcomp.htm http://www.philohome.com/batteries/bat.htm http://www.philohome.com/pfrec/pfrec.htm Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 Excellent, I have both the LiPo and a V2 receiver. Thanks for your information. Quote
