Hobbythom Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) Hi all! I would like to present to you my first modular build! It is a block of a butchershop with an apartment above and a small bank branch office. Having just come out of my dark ages it is a build of many firsts: first modular, fist use of many new pieces, first use of pieces ordered trough bricklink etc. Anyway, without further ado: Slagerij (2) Slagerij (7) Slagerij (18) Bank (12) Bank (7) More pictures can be found here Thanks for looking! kermit Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) Nice build. I dont think I have ever seen a corner building moc where it looks like two different buildings on one 32x32 baseplate. Most of the time the mocs look like one entire building. The colour choice blends well too. Where did you get the inspiration to create this? Edited October 4, 2013 by kermit Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I like it, the bank is actually my favourite part of this MOC......very nice working indeed 'Hobbythom' and Brick On ! Quote
timmyc1983 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Cool modular, you've done an amazing job on the detail of the interior given the space you have to work with, it's fantastic! And the exterior is well detailed too, I love the snot windows in the butcher and the colours go well together! All in all a great MOC, I can't wait for the next one happy building Quote
Andy D Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Very nice modular! The first floor windows on the butcher shop really caught my attention, as did the awning and the butcher shop sign, very clever. My favorite is the bank, it just shows what can be dome with a 10 stud width. Andy D Quote
paostmo Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Wow. Really great first MOC. I like the red and white awning, and the busy sidewalk! Quote
fhomess Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I'm not sure that's the safest place for the chicken suit guy to be standing... Quote
alois Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 VEry nice modular building! I like the simple lines of the corner building. Maybe the beginning of a little street? Quote
eurotrash Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Looks good... and the 10-wide Bank is well done. I particularly like the interiors you've got on your Flickr feed. Quote
KringlesBricks Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I really like the small little details you put into it - the sign above the front door, and the pots hanging on the windows. Nice details for the interior as well - nice color usage. Quote
Hobbythom Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) Thanks everyone for the kind replies. Most of the choice made in terms of size are a consequence of the ammount of available bricks! Edited October 4, 2013 by Hobbythom Quote
georgebjones Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Very nice. I really like the bank section, how it is so narrow. I might build some that narrow in my city. Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 That's a very nice modular block. Personally I would have made the gutters a little bit more decorative. Quote
Kristel Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 This is an awesome first modular building! I like the variation in the facades, not just from the bank building to the corner building, but also in the corner building itself. there's also some great details, like the flower baskets and how you have done the butcher's sign. On the inside, I particularly like the use of that green curvy piece for the coffee table and the built-in desk in the old guy's bedroom. I'm looking forward to seeing more modulars from you! Quote
