TechnicHead41 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 In this topic i would like to present my ideas and progress of my Cyberbug Mark II. Ideas and suggestions is welcome. Hope you like it. Quote
clarkdef Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I tried to make something with legs once, it was an epic failure. Could we see this in action? Does weight seriously affect this thing? Looks epic my friend Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Yes a video and more picture will follow soon, as to the battery box. Yes it's a weight problem, but the L motor almost don't notice it. I had to ditch all the complicated gears setup and go back to a more direct drive for the legs. Have also installed a drivers seat. TechnicHead41 Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Some more pictures of my progress. And a close up picture of the shifter that changes from forward/backwards walking and turning mode. Quote
Lakop Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Oh heck. I'm wondering if it will need more legs. I made one of these in my serious return to technic and it struggled and this was without a mounted battery pack. There are plenty videos on youtube of walking models. I think it's just trial and error but I would seriously consider a lighter battery pack and test as you go. A video of it in action would be nice. H Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 Yes thats true Horace. I have seen tons of videos on Youtube of different kind of walkers. But i don't think that the battery box is to heavy for my walker only speed. it's a little slow at the moment, but i can live with it so far. A video will be coming soon. when i have figured out to place the L motor in a better place. Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Finally ! Just uploaded a video of my Cyberbug Mark II. This is just a small test of it walking and turning. Sorry about the bad resolution in the video. Quote
Lakop Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Good video. I like your shifting mechanism. if you want it to walk faster you will need to look at weight saving, adding more motors or changing the walking mechanism but i'm yet to see something that size move quickly. It's a tricky one but i'm sure there is a solution to make it go quicker. H Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Looks pretty cool, it gives off a creepy vibe due to it's insect-like walk :) Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Thanks for your feedbacks. Well i dont think i can make it to walk any faster than this at the moment. I have thought about another leg geometry. but i have to test it first.. About the battery box, yes it's heavy. But i don't own a LIPO battery box a the moment they are to damn expensive, unless one of you have a cheap one with a charger ? So for the next few days i will do some more experiments. Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Thanks alot rm8. I would love to make at much nicer version maybe in red or a blue version. Or how about a yellow one ??? Quote
skriblez Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Awesome, very fluid walk on it. I agree on the spooky vibe! Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 Some news. I'am working on the next Cyberbug Mark III. Thanks to Effermans walkers on Brickshelf i have discovered a new and much better leg geometry ... Hope he don't mind i have made a copy of these legs. But they are stronger & much faster. Pictures will follow soon, so watch this space !!! Quote
TechnicHead41 Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 A small update on my Cyberbug mark II. And the next version. Much faster, but it's still in the develop mode. Have only tried a small walking test. Maybe i will add some springs on this too, but have to buy them first ..... Quote
