Hi all,

As I've told in other postings, that I was creating my own version of the full RC Logging truck. Or to say better: A combination of two versions. The double wheel creation is from Designer Han, and the motorized creation from Sunnykoomos. With little own modifications.

My real intention to make the modifications is to create instructions with MLCAD, to rebuild the set if I need. The Logging Truck was the first technic set I bought, it was a gift for my son's birthday. To have more fun to play with, I came on the idea to modify it.

But as I'm a technic newbie, I have to learn from other technic fans skills.

The ldraw file I've finally finished, now I try to create instructions in a pdf file. I still have to find out the LPUB page setup for best results.

The two files will come soon for download, in two/three days.

But here the first images:

The ldraw file only contains the chassis with the modifications, the rest can be build from the instructions book.

I hope the result is not too bad, because it is my first creation of instructions, and I still have to learn working with MLCAD/LPUB.

Greetings

Alex

It's done!

I've finally the instructions. After eliminated last errors, I've uploaded them to my dropbox:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ytmt4nhffb5b1np/9397.mpd

https://www.dropbox....1yyifx/9397.pdf

Feel free to build and modify. If you still find errors or something what can be done better, please let me know.

Same for the real names from Han and Sunnykoomos, that I can change it on the cover page.

Best greetings

Alex

Alex this is awesome. I'm just starting out with Technic mods and this is a good project to follow along. Would you happen to have either bricklink or lego part numbers that were required for this mod that you can share with us?

Thanks a lot for investing your time into creating instructions this is very useful for total newbies like me

Hi matrosov,

Thank you for your feedback. For the parts, they belong to the motors/receivers and cable extensions. So two parts in light and dark grey belong to the PF extension wire 8886, and 9 parts belong to the motors and receivers. Here the link for the wire: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=60656

Hope this helps you.

As I still don't know all MLCAD functions, I'm not able to create the PF parts with cable ends, for that you must use LSynth. And I have not really idea to work with ist, because it takes too much time for presentable results. I'm happy with my instruction results, and I think, most technic freaks don't have difficulties to understand my instructions. Surely I can do it better, but for that I must have more time to get deeper knowings.

Greetings

Alex thanks a lot for the reply. It completely makes sense now. The instructions are perfect even for a complete novice like me. It was just parts identification that got me a little confused. One more question are all part in your instructions extra parts needed or some of them re-use of the original set. For example I see 10 wheels listed but there are 6 wheels in a set already. I'm trying to avoid buying too many extra parts since they get expensive very fast.

Edit: I've checked the mpd file. It's correct, there are 10 wheels, because of the double wheel rear.Generally most parts are from the original truck itself, you just must compare wich parts are extra parts. But the most expensive parts are the motors, of course.

But it's not nessessary to make double wheels, I've made it because of the better design.

PS: It's not really needed to take parts in exact colours shown in the instructions, for example, if you don't have the parts in light or dark grey, you can take them in black or so.. I use too my maximum of possibility to avoid buying parts.

Thanks a lot Alex. Quick questions any plans at motorizing the B model of this set? It might make a very nice addition as a dump truck to construction models like ultimate excavator and ultimate crane that are already out.

Hi matrosov,

No, I haven't planned to build the motorized B-Model. I just finished the instructions for an extended 42009 crane boom, and in further time I'll publish the Ldraw version of Jurgen's Ultimate 8043 Excavator Instructions. So I've a lot of work, and in two weeks I have an exposition of the 12V blue era Lego trains, and I'm a full-time job to prepare all.

But later I'll have more time again, my next plannings for future projects are a rotating grapple for the 9397 (with autovalve), a trailer for the Unimog and a motorized spider. All this with instructions.

Best Greetings

Hi again still no luck with my outriggers extending on my ultimate 42009 my rear ones seem to bind when I try to extend them by hand and my front ones are free floating. I compeltely dismantle that piece and can find nothing wrong. Any of you guys have your ultimate 42009 with outriggers assembly shown maybe if I can look at pictures it will dawn on me.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi Matrosov,

Same problem here, the front outtriggers do not float by the motor, I must extend them by hand. Maybe I've simply forgotten one gear. If I've time, I'll dimantle the 42009 too to find what's wrong. Or Jurgen had made an instruction error, but I don't think that.

Greetings

Alex
