oo7 Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Today I got a new extra bonus! Here is my other computer. Circa 1986. DOS. No mouse port (Mice weren't invented yet). 8" Floppy drive that takes disks that are actually floppy. 4 colors. 16 bit sound. 640K RAM. I call it Stonehenge. java script:emoticon('*y*', 'smid_14') *y* It has some great games on it, Pacman, Jumpman, Hopper, TicTacToe, Simon, Digger, Sopwith Camel, Global Thermal Nuclear War, Snake, Connect Four, Teast Drive, Asteriods, and something were you get to bomb Apple factories *y* . A word processer called Q&A. It also has a calendar, but it only goes up to 1999 :-P . And the best part about it is it's just as fast as the day it was new twenty-one years ago. (Stupid Camera auto-focuses on the chair :-| ) Hey, if it's a laptop, and I can go anywhere with it, I'm fine with it. Too bad I can't play any games on it though. I wouldn't suggest it. The only advantage a Mac has is it's immune to basically all viruses (but if you treat your computer well like I do it shouldn't matter...). Other than that everything about them just, sucks, it's like window's Vista. It's designed for a raving lunatic. There's barely any significant manual controls at all! And they so inferior no one wants to make any software or hardware for it except Apple itself, so the selection is very limited, they rip you off with corrupt pricing, and of cource the accessories suck to, because, after all, they're made by Apple too. Well...I'm lucky X-D. I have no need for a keyboard for I have a yoke and the pedals X-D ! Ah, very nice. How much did you get those for? MOC? You ignorant!X-D Indeed. I never thought such an old Lego set would have so many intricate stickers........ When I Quote
Darth Doggfather Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Hey, if it's a laptop, and I can go anywhere with it, I'm fine with it. Too bad I can't play any games on it though.I love it *wub* . Not only that but my Combat Flight Simulator as well, I'll be gunning those German planes for a while. I'm getting pretty good at it. I've gunned down round 14 planes now! Well...I'm lucky X-D. I have no need for a keyboard for I have a yoke and the pedals X-D ! Actually, you can play games on Macs if you load XP or Vista onto them with Boot Camp (google it). Quote
oo7 Posted March 25, 2007 Author Posted March 25, 2007 Actually, you can play games on Macs if you load XP or Vista onto them with Boot Camp (google it). .....OR you could just buy a Windows pc in the first place and save the trouble! Yeah, Apple makes a software so the pour unfortunate souls who buy macs can replear their mistake. X-D But seriously, why would Apple want to demote their own brand like that? And does anyone here use Linux? I've heard it's pretty good, but I've never actually seen one. 8-| Quote
Commander Wolf Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Vista is bad because of the control you give microsoft. With their DMA agreements, if they find anything on your computer that they don't like (illegal copies of their movies, for instance), they can shut down your computer. For good. All via the internet without any consent other than the "I agree" when you start the computer up or install Vista. Just horror stories, it'll never work (like that)... That's basically the same kinda thing I've been hearing. You know, I was dubious as well at first, but after reading up on the DMA and its history it seems... well, plausible. And does anyone here use Linux? I've heard it's pretty good, but I've never actually seen one. A friend of mine dual boots XP/Linux (Forget what distribution, though, it's a wierd sounding one). He's always claiming its great and all, but he claims a lot of things are great and all when they really aren't. I've used Fedora before. Ultimately it feels like using a Mac/Windows/DOS crossbreed (Oh yes, descriptive); I prefer XP. But we all know that Linux is proven to be safer than the other two, so if safety is one of your primary concerns... Quote

This one is special because I'm getting it for free ;-) . Ah, very nice. How much did you get those for? Not sure. Got them a while ago. Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Usually I write my messages on my Acer TravelMate C302XMi Tablet PC. Other times I use my PowerBook G4 15 Inch. When I'm in university I use their iMac's. Quote

Optimax X Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 What am i typing on? What do you think? A keyboard! No, seriously, it's a computer. :-D Quote
oo7 Posted April 2, 2007 Author Posted April 2, 2007 Whoa. Looks like your mouse there had a brief encounter with this reflective fellow. 8-| :-P After two years, I finally changed my desktop to this beauty :-) : Is that a Star Wars setting? At first glance I would say no..... No, seriously, it's a computer. :-D You don't say..... Quote
Scouty Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Is that a Star Wars setting? At first glance I would say no..... No, it's not any frame from star wars. But infact is a Hyperspace exclusive (As seen by the icon on bottom right) of the art of Cedric Delsaux. There are some others, like Darth Vader in front of a large building, but I liked this one best :-) . If you get the chance, pick up the latest issue of Star Wars Insider and it has an article on his art. It's really good and I'd recommend seeing it *y* . Quote
Optimax X Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 You don't say..... I did actuly, but what do you expect with a title like "what are you typing on?" Most people don't really care and classify it as a computer. Quote
zero1312 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Just an "Enhanced Mulmedia PS/2 Keyboard". ;-) Quote
