Hi all!

MOD of the Lone Ranger 79108 set.

img_1880b.jpg

The main idea was to preserve the overall beauty of the oficial Lego set, but downsizing the huge coach so that the horses dont look like Shetland ponies...

I wanted to maintain the design with the two black under-parts.

The chassis was totally rebuild, and only the 4 wheels has been carried over from the original set.

The wheelbase is now 1 stud shorter and the gauge two whole studs narrower.

The carriage also rides one brick lower.

The hitching was also totally changed, and will now fit 4 horses. -So poor old Silver will now have to do double-duty as a pulling horse too. Sorry... ;-)

The huge wheels is the main problem, so I put two plates under the horses legs. This makes the overall aspect somewhat better, and the unseemly clumpfeet can be further dissimulated by adding "gravel" and "dirt" on the baseplate where the set will go.

The overall size of the cabin is the same as the oficial set. I added a door with window and door handle. A small access-stair was also added under the door.

Colours has (obviously) been changed. Not that the original red colour is wrong, but the brown gives a more "weathered" look to it.

The cabin is not just a simple colour-MOD; The 4x1 brown arc with grille-brick, window and curtain is actually build upside down, and is not connected to the rest in any way, but held in place (="prisoner") between the rest of the cabin and the roof.

The luggage-shelf at the back was changed to something a lillte lighter and elegant (in my opinion).

In the front, the drivers seat was lifted a little, and a brake-lever added. Lanterns were also made a little smaller.

This is part of the upcoming MegaMOC 2013.

Ciao!

Nicely done. Are the traces(dont know the official horse term) your design or Lego's? If it is your it is definitely an improvement. I always found the Lego version of how horses are hooked up to wagons, plows etc. kinda cheap. I really like the addition of the cargo net as well.

Fantastic work here, adding the bag in the back added a lot. Using 4 horses instead of 2 also makes this build look a lot better. I love how you kept the original shape and design of LEGO's set, but still made it unique. Well done!

Rhanks for your comment. Unfortunatly I dont know what you mean with "traces", so I cant asnwer you.

Very well done. I love the official set, but it was a bit oversized. This seems to bring the official set down in size, but up in quality. I'd buy this in a heartbeart.

The addition to the cargo net is creative. The 4 horses look very fitting here. I actually really like the studs underneath the horses. It adds a lot to it.

Keep up the great work. I may need to modify mine sometime now that I've seen this.

The traces, or tack, or harnesses. In Spanish I think it's arreos.

The chains and hitching? -Yes; my own design. -(But I´m sure it has been done a million times before I came along... :classic: )

Cool. I'll definitely be copying this since the humungous coach on the original looks pretty ridiculous.

Also worth comparing this mod with KielDaMan's mod here : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=82197

PS. Amazon UK have just discounted the set from the original £30 rip-off RRP to a much more reasonable £20. Good time to snap up a copy although I expect we'll see it at 50% off sometime in the future given the movie seems to have disappeared without a trace.
