Hi guys

I decided to modify my 8258. First i added some of Designer Han's modifications. Then, I extended the truck by adding a 3rd axle to the end. The overall length of the truck got increased to 2 feet because of this. Next I moved onto the crane. I took out the string and added it to a removable winch at the rear of the truck. Then, i extended the crane. This took some time and many tries because the crane could not take the weight of the extension. Because of the extension the crane can reach a max height of 3 feet and can extend sideways 2 feet. I also added many cosmetic things like opening doors and a closed roof

Hope you like it! Please give me suggestions for improvement.

Also sorry for the bad pics. I was using my smartphone for them

I like your modifications, particularly your 3rd axle. I would have tried a rear steering axle instead of extending the crane. The problem with the crane is it is now too long (in my opinion) you can keep it shorter and show it lifting a decent amount of lego beams etc. Or you could have used pneumatics for the crane. I saw a lorry recently with a rear steering axle and I think they are becoming more common.

I don't have 8258, wish I did.

great mods!

My suggestions would be for your photos, perhaps rest the phone on the back of one of those chairs so the pic would be better.

I don't have a BS account, so not sure. But the pics linked are too big per guidelines, not that I'm complaining! I love big pics, with my bad eyesight.

I really like your mods, although the telescopic boom doesn't appeal to me. I don't have one myself, but the first thing I would do would be adding pneumatics and maybe more PF functions (e.g. the extension of the crane, which is all manual, even though the crane lifting is PF, and of course some other functions).

Yea i agree with the crane thing. Right now it can't lift much. Also i don't have many pneumatics in my collection right now so I can't implement any. Also I'm trying to use only my parts for this so I don't want to order any. I couldn't figure out how to steer the third axle as the axle for the HOG would have to pass through the gearbox. Also, you should definitley try and get this set! It's one of my favorite sets

Cool Mod!

I also recently bought, build and modified my the 8258.

I have done all Han Modifications including the double wheel option. I also plan to implement a third (double wheel) rear axle. This might give me some space to motorize my tip truck construction, what I added (similar to the 8052). ;O)

Your Crane is cool - but a littlke bit too long I think.

The opening doors is a good add on I will look into it.

If I ever build this guy again (from my existing parts... I never bought the set), I will try to fix its most glaring flaws. Completely motorizing the outriggers, and completely motorizing the crane (extension + winch)

I like your mods. My 8258 has been Witting on its shelf for almost 1 1/2 years now. I tried to add a fifth steered axle, but couldn't aligne it. Was always a few degrees of.
