Jareth Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 My LUG is making a super hero tower together for public displays. I've made the base and three floors so far. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=534299 This link is still private, but hopefully it will be public soon. In the meantime, here are some teaser pics. Sewer level, with TMNT Flash Level Plant Level (Posion ivy will be donated by another user) Chairface Chippendale, with moon engraving gun. Japanese Schoolgirls on pteradactyls, because.....why not? Alltogether Quote
Ultron Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I love the little tmnt babies! Awesome and clever design Quote
kermit Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) I also like how you made the little turtles using the green helmets. Edited September 19, 2013 by kermit Quote
Clone OPatra Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 This MOC hasn't gotten enough love! I love how entirely zany this thing is. I mean, seriously, it makes no sense whatsoever! But it's still very neat anyway. How did you come up with the concept? Also, I hope you'll update us once more floors have been created. Quote
TheStrategist Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I love how entirely zany this thing is. I mean, seriously, it makes no sense whatsoever! I agree! I honestly don't really understand this MOC either, (who is Chairface Chippendale anyway?) but I love the Flash, and the way you depicted his "speed blurs" (or whatever you would call that motion blur effect from his speed), so good job on that! I also love the baby turtles. I can't wait to see the final version! Quote
Jareth Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) @ Clone O'Patra: Thank you! We came up with the idea for two reasons. First, we wanted something that would look at conventions or in a display box at a lego store. So we went for height. Second we wanted something anyone could participate in. By having a simple concept (32 long, 16 deep, 9 2/3 high) with an elevator in common space, we were able to all do our own thing without worrying if it was going to work together or not. Yeas, I will update it when I get some time. The second of two conventions is this weekend, but I'll make the tower photos 1st priority. @ Dr. Cogg: Yup, I didn't have many superhero figs, so I customed a couple. This also led to variety of the tower since there's a limited number of super heroes. @ The Strategist: I originally had a youtube clip, but.....anyway, In the 90s there was a superhero cartoon called the Tick. It was one of the funiest things I've ever seen. One of the villains was called Chairface Chippendale. Edited October 11, 2013 by Jareth Quote
WaysofSorting Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 This is the second or third recent "modular build" I've seen that has been based on stacking floors (as opposed to like the moonbase or castle-wall builds which put baseplates next to one another). Great Idea. Love the plant floor for Poison Ivy. Post again when you've got more levels! Or make a building to compete against it - Judge Dredd Blockwars Style. Quote
