snefroe Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 not all that brilliant, but what fascinates me is that people are still building models that are based on this legend, even though it's from 1978-1979, almost 30 years ago. You'd think that with this large catalog of new parts and building techniques these days, people would have forgotten all about this set, still... for some reason they always end up with this model... does any one else know an old set that is still replicated today? mutex Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I agree with you, not that great. the fact that people love this set is probably because it acquired a kind of cult status. No space collection can be complete without a galaxy explorer. It's a kind of icon, the start of the great space period for Lego. Also, the building technique is quite simple, and it probably help to get inspiration from that. Quote
Corvus Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 No space collection can be complete without a galaxy explorer. Gah, that comment, and browsing through the Space forum is inspiring me to do a BL-spree. Say goodbye to my wallet. :-| Yes, not the best Space MOC, but I agree with you, it is interesting to see that people still make MOCs of Space. Quote
