Sadly the shell does not strengthen it, just for show at the moment.

That's the way I would go. It's got great visual impact now, as a huge unbroken wall of orange panels; launchers etc. would detract from that.

You could include a Afterburner or something like that. Batmobile style. But building a function like that from Lego parts ... well you'll find a way

I don't think I am going to add a roof, maybe a windscreen, roof would have to be robotic so that I could get in. Ooo now thats a idea

How do you power the thing? I mean, you have loads of NXT motors on it so you'll need loads of connection ports too. And what are these connections ports connected to? All Lego or did you solder something yourself? And why have you chosen the NXT motors and not for example the XL motors, which are a bit cheaper? No critisism, just curiousity ;)

Morning, so its uses 24 NXT motors and 12 NXT's currently controlled simply by touch sensors

Except wheels, 100% LEGO

XL motors are a little weaker (rpm of NXT is lower) and I did not have a massive supply of them at home.

My Go-Cart is powered by XL's

I am a mobile developer but thats nothing to do with it, this was built out of leftovers from other project, ideas etc hence why its the same colour as the wheelchair which is still alive and rolling.

Running out of room now for big projects lol

Any suggestions, should I put false tracks on? I don't really like the idea of a roof as it be murder to get in to

Put four fake wheels with fake tires. If you make roof high enough (almost cartoonishly high) you probably could get in and out easily.

I dont think cannons guns and turrets are for this vehicle. To me this screams to be a small cartoon car :)
