Rishab N Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 How did you manage to get so many orange panels? Quote
AlmightyArjen Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 How much does it weigh already?? 40kg? 50kg? Quote
Burf2000 Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) So now its a tank that looks like a coffin! Next I am going to reshape the front and put a cannon on it! It weighs a lot! Edited September 23, 2013 by Burf2000 Quote
LegoGBC Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 How many motors are connected by now? Quote
Burf2000 Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 Currently 24 motors and 12 NXT's I may add more to power the front 2 wheels This runs on 125MM rotacaster wheels Quote
Doc_Brown Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 yes I'm so totally bored.....NOT haha JUST WOW, so much orange. Great job keep at it! Off topic, but where did you get that cool shirt? Quote
Burf2000 Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 I have a few cool LEGO MINDSTORMS t-shirts which I got from LEGOWORLD Denmark and Holland, oh and one for Great Western LEGO SHOW (being on the stand) Got a EV3 one on today. Quote
Blakbird Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I'm having trouble buying even a handful of orange panels. I can't imagine where you got all of those! The panel shell hides all the trussy goodness inside. What kind of axles are you using to support the Rotocaster wheels? If it is just regular Technic axles, how many do you need to support that much weight? Quote
Rishab N Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 How many panels have you even used? Quote
skriblez Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I had to buy the panels for my bridge in 2 parts and thats only 24 grey :P Quote
Burf2000 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 (edited) Here is the update, its pretty heavy To answer questions, panels, a few hundred (maybe 300), 5 x 11 frames maybe 500 +. It is using 15l LEGO axels, there are 4 hidden Rotacaster wheels under the seat to make it extra safe so the whole thing is on 20 LEGO axles. Its currently on a 6 person table! AlmightyArjen Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 It looks amazing! Are you gonna ride it outside? :D Quote
Milan Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Outstanding. BUt i think the cannon would ruin its look. It may look cool if you try (you can make it!) to build roof, to look like small car. Or at least the windshield, like the convertible. I will vote for the whole roof always! Quote
Hrafn Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I want to drive it! Who wouldn't? I think Burf is going to be surrounded by kids and adults wanting a turn on it, if he takes it out in public. Quote

Burf2000 Posted September 24, 2013 Author Posted September 24, 2013 So question to the forum, should this be manual drive via levers or drive by phone / wifi? I think the manual may be more fun. Maybe the cannon could be remote control? I would try and do both but don't have enough ports, maybe use an accelerometer, mindsensor keypad? Quote
zux Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 This is huge amount of parts, expensive too! I wonder how long it takes to charge all the batteries and how this process looks Quote

Maybe the cannon could be remote control? Manual drive. Two levers like a tank. Do the panels and shell contribute to the rigidity of the model, or are they purely cosmetic? Quote

Yes, I support the roof too! I think it should definitely be manual, by levers near the seat, that's much more fun. Good luck! Quote
timslegos Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Wow that is a new high point for you crazy man! I love all the orange panels, they look so nice. How much does the whole thing weigh? Probably close to 50+ pounds I would guess. tim Quote
