Svad Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 This is the Desiro ML, it runs on belgian tracks since january 2012. I got to ride it for the first time this tuesday and wanted to rebuild it in bricks. It represents a bigger challenge than the AM66 I recently designed because of front section curves. This is the first time I use SNOT techniques and I went kinda mad on the front section. The PF battery box is hidden behind the black window. I'm pretty happy about how it turned out. It isn't done yet but it's close to: I still have to do the under details and the roof. Let me know what you think. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Nice project! I like your CAD modeling! Quote
patje Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 very nice and what a snot operations in order to obtain the color tone fine Quote
bartvdpoel Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Nice one. I take one of these regularly (In Brussels) and had my own plans to build one. You can make some nice details on the roof, because all the stuff is on there instead of under the train. I'm working on a 18 series locomotive. Quote
Svad Posted September 13, 2013 Author Posted September 13, 2013 @bartvdpoel: I haven't seen any 18 since they don't run in my region yet, but I see 13s everyday. Quote
zephyr1934 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Great build and if this is only your first attempt at snot I can't wait to see your second stab at it. Quote
michaelozzie Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 A great challenge to get that front curve and you did a good job getting it with lots of SNOT work. Quote
JopieK Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Nice work on that train! It is indeed very difficult to make that curves with normal bricks, but you did a great job on that!!! Quote
BEAVeR Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Hi, you've managed to make a very detailed and recognizable train MOC again! The front looks very neat, and I like the 'plough' at the underside. As for any improvements. You could replace the yellow tile between the two headlights with a grill tile to mimic he details as the numer etc. Maybe you could represent the NMBS logo on the side with a brick with technic hole? The black section on the side at the front is a bit blocky (pixelated?), but I don't think there's any suitable alternative solution, like with technic panels... The biggest thing that is missing, are of course all the technic details on the roof. I'm very impressed with you train MOCs, and if this is your first attempt at SNOT, I can't imagine where you'll end. Quote
