Dafgek81 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) Hello, I would like to know if I can combine old and new electric parts together, or if this does not work? Can i use a PF pole reverser/polaraty switch (61929c01) in a system with old electric parts, insted of the old pole reverser/polaraty switch (6551)? I am looking for patrs to build the Mercedes Benz Actros 4150K 8x4 tippertruck with crane from Sandman, but that part is not easy to find in Holland and not cheap. So I'm thinking to use a new PF switch insted of an old one. Edited September 8, 2013 by Dafgek81 Quote
DrJB Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Yes, you should be able to, as long as all components are rated for 9V. Now, TLG sells an adapter cable with a PF connector at one end and an old-style 2x2 tile connector at the other end. S@H sells them for $2.99 for the 20 cm version. They are available from other locations (eBay+Bricklink) but a bit more expensive. Keep in mind though that S@H charges both shipping and taxes (at least here in the US). Quote
BobSmithHello55 Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 You can use the Power Functions Pole Reverser Switch with old Lego 9V electric parts, but you will have to use an adapter cable. You need a 8886 / 60656 "Electric, Power Functions Extension Wire with one Light Bluish Gray End (length 20cm)." The Light Bluish Gray end of the wire connects onto the electrified plate on the old Lego 9V electric parts, and the Dark Bluish Gray end connects to the Power Functions element. You can get the part from Shop.Lego.com ( 8 inch version and 20 inch version) . Quote
aol000xw Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 In the end it becomes cheaper to switch to PF unless you want some features that current PF can't offer. 5292 is a good example; studless mounting points, performance beyond current PF options and easily converted to PF with a single cable. Other motors require studs and some even require one of those "electric" plates to mount the adapter to PF (can't be attached directly), so it is very cumbersome. Quote
