Paul B Technic Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Recently I decided to try adding PF driving and steering to set 8110 Unimog U400. Below are some photos and a video of the end result. Parts used are: 1 x PF L motor 1 x PF servo motor 1 x PF IR receiver V2 1 x 8-tooth gear (Used in drive line for L motor to gear down) 1 x 24-tooth gear (Used in drive line for L motor to gear down) 1 x 7L beam A small number of other pieces such as pins, axle pins and some small 3L and 5L beams to mount the engines. The L motor for driving has been mounted in place of the fake 4 cylinder engine, the servo motor for steering has been mounted at the rear of the centre control area, just in front of the rear diff. When adding the PF system I wanted to keep the original look of the set as much as possible, except for the PF IR receiver on back of the cabin it looks "stock". Photos and a video are on my blog: http://paulstechnic.blogspot.com.au/p/set-8110-unimog-u400.html Quote
Junpei Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Nice, it looks amazingly like the normal set! How about other locations for the IR receiver, maybe the cabin? Quote
Paul B Technic Posted September 8, 2013 Author Posted September 8, 2013 Thanks for the feedback. I did try the IR receiver in the cabin but it would not fit very well. Quote
Doc_Brown Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Great job! I was searching for the IR, and couldn't find it! when I spotted it I realized that was a good spot for it. haha Very nice speed and steering, especially on carpet. Quote
