Part 48989 - Two different versions? .. and date code?

I just received an order from BL for few 48989 and noticed 2 'types' ... a shiny vs. a matte finish. Went back a checked my spare parts, and YES, there are few types: Glossy vs. Matte, then what appears to be production date e.g. 3-01 vs. 4-01 ... Could very well be the two molds are from two different production location e.g China vs the Czech Republic ...

AFAIK 01 is the mould number not the year [48989 didn't appear 2004], and the other digit is mould position. Decent BL sellers will split stock for you if you want matching parts if you email them before you order [in the UK Yellow Farm and TechnicNXT have done this for me before]. I'm off to check mine now !
