Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Well, after lazying around I finally decided to join the fun. Here's a quick vignette I built to introduce my characters. Built it to fit in with task 2 (hope I understood correctly the idea): There's Aymer Gray, Cora and her pet raven:

"Aymer Gray is the gazillionth son of a powerful ore baron. Thorought his youth, he was the protege' of the house trainer. All the years of training turned him into a master of arms. He trained alongside Cora, the trainer's daughter, who became his shadow after their first training session.

Growing up with the tales of Sir Prancelot, the boy became drawn to a life of adventure. Realizing he had no chance to partake in his father's inheritance due to the countless older siblings

(and presuming he'd be 70 by the time he staged enough accidents to do away with them), he decided to leave the keep and follow in the footsteps of his childhood hero. Cora followed him and thus starts their tale..."

Also here's my first build for GOH: The Spanking Troll Tavern. I assume this counts as a free build, but suggestions would be more than welcome. :D

Hi folks, just a quick question, im planing on starting on task 4 but I want the moc im currently working on to evolve. Can I do this for task 4? Also can I have more than one settlement?

I don't know about the evolving build, but I don't think its a problem.

And yes, you can have more than one settlement - that is stated explicitly in the rules.

And remember that Task 4 is a long term thing - you can keep adding to your hamlet/village/town/city(s)... :)

Makes perfect sense! I appreciate the different kinds of approaches and storylines. :) Been reading up on posts on my phone and might not have gotten all the connections between builds and people right yet :)

Just to clarify Bregirs answer. You can only have one land (county) but different towns, cities villages in your land..

A question for our new members... How did you find GoH? Fun to see which ways we can attract even more members!

Being a member long before joining, I was aware of this and was suggested to join by some members so nothing special in my case.

A flickr group might increase exposure and would be a good place to gather everyone's builds if there's not one already.

Im not sure exactly where iv landed but I fancy one of the islands to call home. Im still in the woods at the moment but once iv setup camp, ill then find a high spot to see where I am.

I think I like the idea of evolving my next moc and I think itll fit into my story.

Well I'm not extremely new but I guess I will answer that anyway. I was looking up lego stuff on google and made my way to flickr, where I somehow made my way to derfel Cadarn's photostream. and I was interested by how all his dark isle stories were part of goh, so I went to eurobricks and figured out what goh was

When I was still a beginner in the hobby and I posted my builds on MOCpages I was inspired by Ru Corders suff (for those who still know him), he told me about the GoH and then I joined EB. For book II I betrayed my weak home guild of Mitgardia and joined the much more powerful (and less stinky) Guild south of the border.

I joined because of the awesome MOCs dG and Etzel posted on Swebrick

I was sure I wanted to join Avalonia but because i thought that so much I would have built would have been too much ripping off dG and DC's work I decided to go for similar building in a different setting and thanks to a bunch of PoP sets I had the bricks and figs to build in Kaliphlin. So grateful I got to be part of this awesome MMBORPG (or whatever it should be called)!

I joined GoH because I've always had a knack for Fantasy games and books. I sometimes feel like I should have joined Avalonia because of the wilderness and landscape (sorry Kaliphlin) but Kaliphlin is my place of santuary because of the wealth, architecture, and the people, so I joined Kaliphlin and I must stay loyal to them, even if it means I live at the Avalonia-Kaliphlin border where the wilderness is how I like it.

I too saw Ru Corder's builds for Mitgardia on Mocpages. At one point, I almost joined Kaliphlin, (I even have the pictures of my sig on my computer), but after seeing DC's guide I decided on Avalonia.

I joined about a year after Carson told me about it. Then I didn't think I could make good enough MOC's, but here I am, still torn between every guild! My collection eventually told me where to join though. Thanks Carson

I joined EB for Star Wars, ten I saw Cadarn's MOC and not oly and I decided to try build something medieval. After a while I was invited by some people from GoH like Soccerkid6 to join!
