TheUtilityBelt Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 I'd love to trade for some sand GREEN Ha! Tss, who wants sand?!? ;) Although I have no clue what I would have that a greeny would want. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Tss, who wants sand?!? ;) I do, it goes good when you add it to bread. Mmmm, gritty bread! Quote
Bregir Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Welcome, Jakorin - great intro build and sigfig. And Cesbrick - you set high standards for task 5 for the rest of us! That is one amazing Kickoff to the task! /Bregir Quote
Gideon Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Looks like Avalonia is growing stronger, welcome new members! Quote

That is one amazing Kickoff to the task! /Bregir Thanks I was already working on the MOC and, coincidentally, it fits on task 5! Oh and, at the moment, Avalonia it's the most appealing Guild for me (and for my collection ). All the greens and forests and enchanted stuff it's very appealing to me. Quote

All the greens and forests and enchanted stuff it's very appealing to me. It´s appealing to everyone! They just hide themself in lava, snow or sand! They know better! My time is limited (as usual!) so I´m really behind on comment on all the great moc´s in GoH lately! But I prefer to build these days. I have 5 mocs in different stages of completion. I thought I could build Sionnach (Benoics large city) as kabel, in modules but I´m really suffering in bricks now with 5 mocs on 48x48 baseplates. So I think I will have to break some of them down once I´ve photographed them! To bad though, I really like kabels city idea! Quote

Five simultaneous MOCs of 48x48 sound like a substantial investment in bricks! I hope you can keep some of them completed to be photographed together (if they are designed in that way?) Any chance that something might be displayed on one of the Swebrick exhibitions in Norrköping or in Uppsala this fall...? Anyway, nice to hear that you are using your limited time for building! Quote
Scaevola Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Welcome Jakorin, and nice entry moc as well Quote

Altough it is nice to present it at the same moment, I would advice you to make your city step by step :) it took me 3 years for half my city (7 48x48 modules). And it will take me at least 3 more years to finish my current ideas. I see it as a lifetime project :) this way I can also spread the cost of the bricks over some years :) Quote
de Gothia Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Gideon: Yes they are actually. Two modules will be part of the wall sorrounding Sionnach, one is a street right behind the gate to Sionnach, one is where the gardener/forester lives and the last one is where de Gothia now lives. All built by the help of your people from Barqa! DM: Well, I can´t keep my bricks tied up... Not enough room in my small lego attic or money for more bricks atm. We are saving money to paint our house and that is expensive!!! Quote

Great to hear that the Kaliphlin craftsmen are making good progress there I also used to be very keen on not keeping my bricks tied up at all, but a couple of lugbulks later it's great to be able still be building even though a big build is still assembled for display. But with moving to mostly tan I'm back to recycling asap after photography Houses are great for having room for more lego than an apartment, but I agree that all the maintenance work and costs suck... Time and money which should have been better spent elsewhere Edited August 9, 2014 by Gideon Quote
de Gothia Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Well, I have been in two bulks so some parts are collected. But since I´m not an open Afol I kinda feel like the bulk is not for me. That why I´ve stopped order them.. And that´s why I´m only lurking the swedish forums these days, I kinda feel like an outkast there. I will (hopefully) go to Uppsala the autumn but I will not be displaying anything. I will go undercover! (see if you remeber me! ;)) Quote
de Gothia Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) Sorry for double posting but my latest free build is up The thread can be found here http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=98792 Edited August 10, 2014 by de Gothia Quote
cesbrick Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Wonderfull build de Gothia! So many details and little things. the foulliage is also great. The flesh bricks works very well here. Awesome job! Quote
narbilu Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Hej Guys, I had some spare time the last couple of days, so I wanted to show you the progress on Norra (small island Northeast of Hemresa), I will build a settlement where my storyline will continue. Hope you like it so far: Quote
de Gothia Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Wow it looks great!! Really promising!! Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 It's looking great so far, narbilu, but try to not make that one island look rectangular. Make it seem more natural with a non-distinct shape. Quote

Bregir is almost right... It will be the base of a ship, I made it in brown, saved me two trans blue 8x8's I want to finish most of the landscaping first, buildings and scenery will be added later. Maxim I Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 (edited) My latest free build is up! Very nice DG! I will comment on the topic the moment I got my laptop back :) Now, I want to start a small discussion here. Should there be marks of age in new buildings?? In my story, my city is a new build city. That's why there are no agemarks in the buildings. If I take a good look to your gatehouse DG, there are already some agemarks in the stonework. I understand most of us castlebuilders love to see a building that looks like it is more than 500 years old. They look to examples of castles which survived all those ages and still can be visited nowadays. And they want that look in their castles. But somehow they forget that they are building in a medieval setting. So in fact the building should have a new and fresh look. Ofcourse there are exceptions like cities who have been recently raided or are some hundreds years old theirself. A new house should look new. If I was a lord in medieval times and my workers made a house or castle for me that already looks 200 years old, I would be pissed off :) I hope you see my point of view. It is not only about the fabolous gatehouse of DG, allmost all the Avalonians have this "agemarksyndrom" Edited August 12, 2014 by Damaximus Quote
