Pyropetepete Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Hello everyone. I'm Pete and from the Southwest of the UK. Below Is my collection. A recent eBay hall and a friend paying visit to Toys R Us in Leeds (they had stock). A trip to Ikea is needed to house them (anyone have urgestions). PS They are all new and sealed still :) Yet to build them. Not sure I want too. Am wanting LEGO Technic Service Truck 42008 and 42009 Mobile Crane MK II. I was a Lego kid many years ago have found my love again. Quote
N-4K0 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Hello and welcome to the forums! Good to see another one back from the Dark Ages Quite a nice bunch of sets you've got yourself there. I have the 8110 Unimog U400 myself. I just built the 42009 Mobile Crane MK II this week, you don't wanna miss out on it a great set if you're looking for parts, and a nice building experience. Quote
Foggy Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Nice way to come out of dark ages!! Not build these models should be a pity, find some time As far as housing them, I suggest to find a close cabinet with glass doors to avoid dust and place it shaded from direct light to avoid discolouring. Have fun! Quote
peter_m Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) You should build them! And then you should look for 8043 and 8258 - awesome building experience! And regarding Ikea - go for http://www.ikea.com/...ing_room/11683/ - I use 80cm bookcases with glass doors. Edited August 18, 2013 by peter_m Quote
Balrog Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 To really find your love again, build them. Also, in the general section is a thread for storage and sorting Lego which could give you some cool advise for your collection. Also in this very Technic section is a thread for showing off your collection, please use that for inspiration and to show off your collection of course. Quote
kungpo Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 You have to build them! And Peter_M is right - you need to try and get an 8043 as it's a simply awesome set. 8258 and 8285 are also very cool but can be expensive on the secondary market. Quote
legomuppet9 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Nice collection you have there, you should be able to build some pretty nice MOC's with that lot and nice to see another member from the UK Quote
Jared Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Well, welcome then! Quite a nice Technic collection! Quote
1974 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Yet to build them. Not sure I want too. Hello and welcome. What's the point of buying them if you don't want to build them? Quote

Thanks for the welcome buddy and yes it's been some 20 years!!! Wait and see my last reply LOL Nice way to come out of dark ages!! Not build these models should be a pity, find some time As far as housing them, I suggest to find a close cabinet with glass doors to avoid dust and place it shaded from direct light to avoid discolouring. Have fun! Ah I can find some time and nice desk. It's making the cut or opening the box. Thinking the same for housing them. You should build them! And then you should look for 8043 and 8258 - awesome building experience! And regarding Ikea - go for http://www.ikea.com/...ing_room/11683/ - I use 80cm bookcases with glass doors. Cheapest I could find BRAND NEW http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181087100684?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 To really find your love again, build them. Also in this very Technic section is a thread for showing off your collection, please use that for inspiration and to show off your collection of course. I do a lot work with SMD LED strips. I will be using that to highlight them I think. You have to build them! And Peter_M is right - you need to try and get an 8043 as it's a simply awesome set. 8258 and 8285 are also very cool but can be expensive on the secondary market. Yes I'm shocked at what costs are 2nd hand still!!! Nice collection you have there, you should be able to build some pretty nice MOC's with that lot and nice to see another member from the UK MOC's?? Well, welcome then! Quite a nice Technic collection! Thanks, was my preferred set Hello and welcome. What's the point of buying them if you don't want to build them? Bah I will, just getting backside into gear Welcome to Eurobrick's Pete. Thanks dude Wow thats a very nice collection to start off with! Also, Welcome to Eurobricks Thank you Welcome to EB Pete. Check this out. Maybe answer your questions about displaying your sets. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74045&view=&hl=&fromsearch=1 I'll have a good read over the pages, thank you. Ikea has a nice glass display cabinet of which i'll need at least 2 (anyone get Ikea discount...?) http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10011055/ As I said above I do some work with SMD LED. I'm sure I'll find a way to use them in there to highlight them. Frosted acrylic base with the LED's inside and mirror backing. So I've been shopping. Toy's R US and 42009 was £180 but they price match. No online stores or eBay. Argos sell the kit for £149.99 and via the Argos App (iPhone) and they matched it. My misses okayed me to get it. SHOCKED Quote
CisFran Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) Actually, you can buy the 42009 at the Lego S@H for the very same price of £149.99, free shipping and you can earn some VIP points on the side Edited August 18, 2013 by francisalmario Quote
FuzzyBallz Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 You're gonna love that helicopter. It's gigantic! Quote
legomuppet9 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 MOC's stand for "My Own Creations," basically, stuff you make and design and build yourself Quote
TinkerBrick Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I can recommend the Ikea Billy cabinets with glass doors. They work great for me, esp. The variable height of the shelfs. Quote

I looked at topic and was more how to store the parts not built for display. MrNumbskull13 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Wow that is my dream collection! xD Quote
Hrafn Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Would like to see some peoples setups. I looked at topic and was more how to store the parts not built for display. Large hardware stores are usually good places to look, at least here in the US. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of one of these, though with a collection your size you may want several, in addition to bins for infrequently used parts. These bins aren't the sturdiest, but they work - and at $20, they're affordable. Quote
peter_m Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Umm i'm not sure. http://www.ikea.com/...593/#/S69884593 Would like to see some peoples setups. I looked at topic and was more how to store the parts not built for display. I thought about it a little more and honestly Billy is not so much for "show-off" display (surely not as much as glass-only cabinets) but the sets are visible and what is more important (at least for me) they do not get covered with dust. 750ACE Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) People really need to use the search tool more :) Are you looking for sorting or displaying because the link I provided has both. Edited August 20, 2013 by 750ACE Quote

On display with them sealed from being dust collecting items. People really need to use the search tool more :) Are you looking for sorting or displaying because the link I provided has both.
