Hinge tool doesn't always work

I've got a question about the hinge tool. When I make a model that includes mechanisms, I often check if it works with the hinge tool. Like LDD trick #6, Hinge mechanism simulation. When all works like it should, I proceed the build. After a while, I check back if all mechanisms work like they should. Then all of the sudden, the hinges aren't working anymore. Am I doing something wrong?

Just a minute ago, I found out that the hinge tool sometimes works when I'm zoomed in on the object. Also, when rotating one part, the other part rotates the other way. Any suggestions?

Basically, both hinge and hinge align tool are just build helper functions. Sometimes we can use their side effect to make animation or simulate mechanic, but may need proper modification to the model. I will try to help if you send or share your LDD file.

Thanks for the reply. Right now I'm on a laptop that doesn't have the LDD file. I will post the file later. Meanwhile I've found out if I place two connector pegs in one line, it doesn't seem to hinge. When I remove one peg, the hinge tool works. Is that the modification you're talking about?

Yes, in most case to simplify the moving parts could help.

Let's see if this works. I added the LXF file. When I want to hinge the wheels, it doesn't work. But if I use the steering wheel, it does (when I'm zoomed in on the steering wheel). It's not nearly done, but I don't want to proceed only to find out I can't hinge when it's all done. Do I have to put the wheels in the desired angle before I continue, or is it salvagable?

I added two yellow support then it work. But not so smooth and hinge tool may get stuck. When it happen, use hinge align tool to reset it.

I will try to improve it later.
