Vamor Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) Hi Everyone! I just made these custom-printed renaissance minifig torsos. You can see more pics at my flickr: http://www.flickr.co...s/95737163@N02/ Thanks! Vamor Edited August 11, 2013 by Vamor Quote
JoeKaydear Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Those are nice -- are you going to use them in a Lego play or movie? Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Those look awesome. How much does it cost to custom print them? I've only really heard of people using decals, which is okay, but printed is always better (IMO). But these look great. I'd love to see them in a MOC to add some variety. Hopefully LEGO will take note and come up with their own official version. Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Very nice torso's but this thread fits better in the Minifig Customisation Workshop Quote
Vamor Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Thanks! I dont have any plans for movie/play, but there will be MOCs when i get a chance! Also, pad printing costs a fortune because factories only print pieces by the hundreds, a dollar a piece! Quote
CustomJoe_MD Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Hi Vamor, so you had them professionaly printed?? I got the idea they were your own direct work. How many to make the prices reasonable? 20000+ 100000?? I'm very interested in knowing the numbers of that side of the craft, since it's always a bit secret. Anything you can add helps. I'm currently testing a new..ish technique to print minis, at a low cost/per piece but with the difference I can make one of a kind or a boatload, and it doesn't really have any special costs, so whatever I can learn to help me with the calculations is welcome. I'm calling it the voodoo that I do for now, untill I'm sure everyone can do it too. Personal question, since the cost is high, what made you choose that design and not anything else? Just curious. Vamor Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Hi CustomJoe MD, yes they are professionally pad printed, and what is reasonable depends on what you want. You can expect to pay 100-200 up front, (each of these torsos cost 1-2 dollars and i only printed one side). I hope this helps! Also, I did the renaissance torso design because I would love to see that time period become more popular, and liked the spaniards from the old pirates theme! Hopefully if these sell I will do more historic-themed things! let me know how your new technique goes! Quote
(Dutch) Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 There are many people who would go the cheap route I.E digital printing. You on the overhand did not. You went above and beyond and had these excellent torsos pad printed. I've got to say these torso are outstanding! Do you have any plans for new designs? P.S Once I have a bit more funds available I'd like to support you by buying a couple torsos. -Dutch Quote
Aeridian Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Wow! You did a great job on the design. I liked the old pirate line as well, and I'm also a big fan of the Renaissance since it's kind of a bridge between Castle and Pirates. Quote
Vamor Posted August 15, 2013 Author Posted August 15, 2013 Thanks guys! Other designs in the future will be based on eras of history that we don't yet have in the realm of minifigures! Quote
IronArtist Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 How many different colours can you print on the one torso? Quote
Vamor Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 This run through was 3 colors, Black, White, and Gold Quote
