Prince Manic Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I would love to build and display my custom built Rogers no. 141 Locomotive but there's a problem Lego has a wheel set with Two Med Flanged wheel and one without it as a three wheel set and they're sold out, What I can do to order a set of three med flanged ones I've tried putting part number 85557 on the help section to get a brick but no results, tried bricklink and still nothing. in my display model I used six med flanged wheels since it's gonna be a display only. Here's the Wheel I would need I could wait until they make more of that three wheel set and order three of them (so I can use the Med Flanged ones in my display model) Why I cannot order this part if I need six of them? I found he 13m beam and the train wheels I've used. Quote

Bamos Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 On full size locomotives the middle drivers are not flanged either. Bill Quote
Gioppa Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 remember, with 3 wheels flanged, the loco don't turn! one flanged have to be in the middle! Quote
Barduck Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 you won't find them at Lego pick a brick, only option is bricklink or other 3th party sellers. Just click on the links Quote
Duq Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 You could buy the Constitution chase (79111) to get you started... Where did you get part number 85557? Bricklink part numbers are 85489a for the blind and 85489b for the flanged. The Lego ID is 4543943 which according to Brickset is not available to buy from Lego.com. Why do you call it a medium wheel? Lego only have one size train driver and in the Big Ben Bricks product range this is called the Large driver... Quote

I found he 13m beam and the train wheels I've used. I believe the six wheels come from one mold with two blind and four flanged. You'll never see these in PAB. Lego customer service probably has them available for replacement parts, but not for purchase. Generally parts that come in a bag are produced by a third party, so they are more expensive to lego and they are less likely to offer them separately. You can find them on bricklink for relatively cheap, $1-$1.5 per wheel, and you can order the quantity you want. You can also get the original part from Big Ben's Bricks following the link in the last post (no relation: that Ben does wheels, this Ben does rods). Lego copied the idea of blind drivers and size of the wheels from BBB, who proved there was demand. On full size locomotives the middle drivers are not flanged either. Depends on the loco, there are plenty of engines built for tight radius curves that have blind drivers (e.g., many narrow gauge locos). For larger mainline locos they typically had all flanged wheels, but they also had much fancier suspension than can be realized in lego at this scale. Quote
