Take a look at this beautifully detailed city I found on Brickshelf with half-timbered houses, great station and some wonderful other houses. *wub*

This guy put a lot of effort into his city to make it look this nice.

The thumbnail is a link to the gallery.

A town with a lot of great details! I've the feeling that it's a town made with old parts selection, with just few new pieces, well integrated.

... the best type of town there is XD.

This is indeed very impressive; does anyone have any info on the builder?

Judging from the scale, I'd think it was made by a LUG

I'd think the same except for the fact that it appears to be set up in an attic or something similar. Notice the sloped corners of the room indicating a roofspace room.

Whatever it is it's an impressive city. Pity there isn't a full shot of the whole lot, but the room probably doesn't allow for a panoramic shot.

You're right. All I know about him is that he's from Germany and he has an entire attic for his "layout". And he made the layout himself.

I especially like the dark red factory *wub*

This is really incredible. I took about 15 minutes for looking at all those lovely pictures.

I would really like to see an overview picture, know how long it took to make this city, what are the future plans, ... .

I have send an email to the creator (Uli) with a link to this topic.

So with a little luck, he might be here soon...

But I never saw the windows used in this building before, are they custom made perhaps?

Nope, those are actually very old doors, before minifigs existed. I've seen them being used as windows before. I have some of them somewhere in my piles...

Hello everbody.

Hi Uli,

welcome to EB and thanks a lot for taking the time to share some insight. That's one big project you're working on there, I admire your patience.

Even if you just build it for yourself I'll continue to check your brickshelf folder ;-)

Good luck on your project *y*

Do you mean they can open?

That's a wonderful moc Uli! how would you know that peice was a door if it doesn't open and doesn't look like one? The only way is to see a set with it which is here:

I grew up with old sets like that and didn't know any other doors back then. It always looked like a door to me. And bricklink says it's a door ;-)

Hello Uli!

It's always nice to hear, or read, some coments from afol city.

A 10 year project is very long. But after Those 10 years, your town is finished. So the question is: do you plan to modify it (some minor modification, big rebuild,...) ? :-D

Personnaly, my town is never completed.

Really loving this.

Oh, and I may be incorrect, but I think that the factory is actually just... red. The dark-red colouring seems to be a product of the photography/photo editing. Look carefully at some of the red windows: they also appear to be dark red, even though many of them have been out of production for years.

Still, regardless of colour, this is a genuine, bonafide masterwork. Bravo, and kudos for a job well done.

Later.
