Timmy, i'm not really sure about the position, but there is no room to do it in a different way... In the way they are positioned now, there is an open area for track... and i need track badly... else there would be more trains than track...haha.. But im really happy with the layout so far!!! It is indeed expensive, but i sold most of my former hobby-items, Dutch coins, ad i used that money to create this layout... Most of the Lego keeps its value, and hey, a hobby should cost money...
