Bkrosell Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 (edited) court yard of Herylium Manor, This is a court yard that has belonged in lord Velmyre's family for generations, he still takes strolls in it often as it is a place that calms him when he is stressed. Edited July 31, 2013 by Bkrosell Quote
Nightstalker Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Not a bad start. I think you should add a bit more detail. For example, the rock pathway leading to the fountain could use some more 1x1 studs (black, grey, bley, etc.) or 1x1 plates. The snow covered areas should probably be slightly more layered (which you've done in a couple of patches by what I can see. The water area on the right looks rather interesting. Any chance you could get a closeup on it and the main fountain as well? Quote
Bkrosell Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 I'll make a close up of the fountain and add more studs to the path, thanks for the suggestions. Quote
Captain Settle Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Looks promising and I like the patchy pathway, but at the moment it looks a bit empty. I agree with NightStalker that it could have some more landscaping, or maybe a bench or tree. Quote
Rolli Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 (edited) Sorry to sound harsh but I'd like sharp and unblurry pictures first. Also the fountain looks pretty much like the one from the PotC-set. Why don't you change it a bit? The terrain could use more detail imo. I like what you did with the small fountain / pond on the right though! Edited July 30, 2013 by Rolli Quote
soccerkid6 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 The added small plates improve the path and I like the changes you made to the snow Is there any backstory to this scene? If you have some plants you could add those to the landscape, maybe make some covered with snow Quote

I like what you did with the small fountain / pond on the right though! I took most of the pieces from the POTC-set but I changed some very noticeable details,When it comes to the terrain it is pretty empty and bland, I think I might ad some plant life, thanks for the insight. Also I don't personally have a very good camera. Even though my dad Has a really good one He is gone most of the day and doesn't like taking pictures for me so I have to manage on my own. Edited July 31, 2013 by Bkrosell Quote
Bkrosell Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Just added some new parts to my court yard, give further suggestions on what you think it should look like or what would make it look better, your comments truly help Quote
Gideon Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I like the snow and the path, but the green areas could use some more detailing. Some small green plates, flower stalks or small details of other earth colors would look nice. Being from a subarctic country, I think dark tan might work great among the green since the grass appearing underneath a long winter's melting snow rather has that color Quote
