Ok,after thinking about it, the only thing i can think of was when [spoiler!!]

the Mountain Dew machine and the Xbox 360 transfomed. And again, it takes nothing away from the movie, and was only for a slpit second. Big deal. If there was anything else please point it out.

I'm thinking that not every product like that in a movie is product placement. The MD, GM cars, Xbox, Nokia, and probably Apple were all obvious and overt product placement. I don't know if I'd count the Army, as well, their were soldiers in the film as 'main' characters. How else would they show them as soldiers without them being in the Army?

I'm wondering (due to the coloring) if that's Starscream. I say that too because notice at the end of the gallery that Prime has a second version of his toy! (And thankfully with his faceplate in place).

Prime has two toys, the one we've seen in plastic is his pre-Earth form. The other one is his Earth form.

But that other guy is Blitzwing. He's a triple-changer with multiple personalities.

But still, I'm wondering what all the clear chests might be... a sparking or lightup action ...or merely just design?

It seems kind of forced on some of them, so I'm guessing it relates to some action feature.

Hasbro said the only gimmick in this line is the fact that the toys transform. So I tend to doubt the light up idea.

But yeah, this is the first time since BW I've been interested in a line.

Lugnut is love. Sweet, sweet love.

You have set in your mind the exact script, exact designs and exactly the way you want the movie should be. And unless its done in exactly in that fashion, your just not going to aprove. And thats kind of sad acctually. And i'm not saying that too be mean, but yourjust to busy nit picking to just sit back and enjoy somthing.

Not so, not so!

If you were to simply remove the corny, joke-a-minute stuff, it'd be in "critical" condition from dead.

If you implemented then more recognizable character likenesses, it'd be "stable".

If you then added ROBOT character developement (done by reducing people time, and not an "impossible" task, if done right)... then you'd have a fine film that's able to go home.

Really, it's a movie about Transformers. Dodging just those 3 gunshots would have resulted in me paying to see it and being supportive. It's not a demanding thing. Product place all you want, if the rest of the movie's not embarrassing. Product placement in this crapper though was just that extra push over the cliff of MichaelBaydoesn'tgiveacrap Point.

And look at these new cartoon figures.

VERY different from G1, but also with enough G1 to still be cool. Certainly not the cartoon I'd have envisioned for Transformers, but I'm excitedly anticipating it. Technically,I should be throwing up because "it's not GEEWHUN" or "Megatron's not a GUN" or whatever else silly title / phrase gets tossed on those of us who didn't like the movie.

But here I am, hungrily waiting for it.

How can that be? OOOOoooooooOOOooooohhhhh, because it's about the robots, not an assload of cliche humans I'll NEVER, EVER care about!

But what about Energon, Armada, etc, etc...?

Ah, annoying humans. And those series REALLY were just toy commercials.

You at least know with this new one that if the Teen Titans guys are on it, that there'll be character developement beyond, "Sup, lil bitcheswooooah I just got torn in half!" or "I'm Maximus Maximus and now I changed color from the Super Dooper Pooper Hyper Energon and went Super Saiyan and now I'm called Maximus Maximus Maximus!".

Here's a link to the video. It's great how everyone cheers for the Dinobots, then again for Starscream talking. Some of the toys are shown (in the video) as well, but obviously not as clearly as the pics you posted.

It's definitely different, but in this case, I think that's a good thing. They all look pretty cool really. I actually really like Bulkhead. Don't know why, perhaps because he's 'the most different.' And Prowl appears to be a bit ninja-like.

Oh, btw, Slag was the Triceratops in G1, so it's safe to assume that he is here too.

EDIT: Some more pics from SDCC can be found here. There's pictures of new Movie figures (mostly repaints but not all), Robot Heroes, Animated and Universe/Classics 2.0.

Sideswipe and Sunstreaker look cool.

Wow, i'm actually liking this new animated series! I hope that it'll be shown in the Netherlands...

So there I was, bound to watch HP yet with no chance at vacant seats in a corresponding theater. Went to see TF instead (much to the agony and, just, whining of my sister, yet more to the likes of my brother-in-law).

Question: Why did the boy make it through the city, being chased by laser-spitting killing machines, holding an item that looks more like it was REALLY heavy? Especially since a flying killing machine was bound to take him out? LOGIC?

Just as soon as you explain to me how gaint alien robots from space are able to scan an abject and turn into that abject, i'll gladly rebutel your point. :-|

Damn I resign on this matter...it has no use arguing since those loving it do that for, to me, incomprehensible and undiscutable points anyway.

I'm just glad there still ARE folks who didn't like the Bay-TFs also...

So only your points are comprehensible huh? No one else can just go to a movie like this and just sit back and enjoy it?

I had writen some big comeback post, but why? we could go back and forth like we fave been, but i'm not going to change your opinion, or are you going to change mine. We preety much pointed out what most likes about it, and didn't. You didn't like it? Fine. I did and thought Bay did a great job. Botttom line is whats done is done. This was the Transformers movie and always will be (weather you want to admit it or not) and i look forward to bay directing the next one. X-D

Ok, now that i finnally got that out of my system.....

i didn't care for the designs when i first saw them, but now that i see them in motion, they look alot better. I still think prime looks alittle cheezy, but the other designs are kinda cool. The toys aren't bad either. When is the first episode supposed to air?

Isn't this just bugging the HELL outta' you?

I know it is me! :-D

Like, I expected there to be "sides" and whatnot, but isn't it confounding just how ABSOLUTE us people on our sides are?

It's really kind of amazing to me. Whether you liked it or didn't like it, there's hardly an inch to budge in the opposite direction.

That was bugging me also... I had at least hoped Bumblebee would get repaired into the new camaro. Just changing upon a porny brat's request is weak storytelling at its finest.

Before replying to a post quoting it, please read carefully. I administered my, now, biased opinions on the movie by limiting the incomprehensibility. I wrote "..., to me,..." which has to be enough not to insult those who want to find this movie good. Let it rest at that, because I didn't EVER insult or defame anyone for liking this movie as a whole. Different matter on its humour though (see my original post).

This whole block of text was unnecessary for above reason. I never meant to change your opinion in any way. Like it, I won't. At least until it gets a proper fan recut rendering it down to a sub hour CGI-fest sans story.

Well really they look a lot better when still. In motion I found it all to blur into unrecognisable decorum.

Not me. You guys that did not like it expected to much!

Well too bad I expected much too less. And still I had been disappointed. megablock luck, eh?

You say you went in with no expectations or a open mind, but most off you all say all you wanted to see were the robots! Were you guys born yesterday, have you never seen a hollywood movie before. The film turned out to be just what a action flick from hollywood is all about.

Which is, at its core, what the hole megablocking problem is. I guess modern hollywood flicks cater only to the ADS, pill-popping, sub 17 crowd. Which I am all not part of. So give me movies that have something to them (I don't expect a new Citizen Kane, dammit!) and I'm all set. What Hollywood gives us however is laughable.

Just as 100$ to a classics student as a language and history advisor would have made Gladiator and Troy 100% better movies, hiring a small group of devoted TF-fans could have prevented this piece from blowing like it did.

The cartoon movie we all love was probably made for $10million and this was over $150. If you cut out all the human screen time you would be left with 1 hour of film?

Wouldn't that have been a promising endeavour? :-|

I am affaid to say the movie you wanted would have cost $400million or more. I too would have love to have seen a bit more screen time for the robots but that's us fans.

Fine, bill me for it.

The average joe blogs who might see this movie on a whim wants some story in there that he can relate to, and this film had to appeal to the average movie goer as well as the fans. I think you just have to watch the film enjoy the great robot sceens and remmember that you are watching another hollywood action flick :-)

But that's not enough. If I deliberately had to lower my expectations every time I wan't to go see modern movies, I should better stop now. Your argument is a slap in the face of every movie-goer with some sense of quality.

At least from my perspective having a license does indeed indicate there is already a solid fan-base established which has to be appealed before any other group or person.

Pleasing the average joe can't ever produce solid outcomes.

When they at least had left those juvenile pre-adolescent American Pie humour out it'd helped the movie to NOT suck a lot.

Finally off to see the Movie this afternoon.

That means I'll now be able to join in the discussions properly.

On a side-note, I've finished Infiltration, and I'm half-way through Stormbringer.

I never said that you insulted anyone. Nor did i insist that you were trying to change anyones opinion. But that fact is that we've been going back and forth for about 4 pages of this thread about what people liked, and didn't like about the movie. You didn't make any new agruments that haven't been already brought up, and i just didn't feel like repeating myself.

This is exactly the point that i believe Mutley and others were trying to get across. This was first and formost supposed to be an action flick made to entertain. it did just that. Saying that movies like this only appeal to the ADS, pill-poping sub 17 crowd IS an insulting coment. Just case it doesn't appeal to you is no reason to demeaner the people that enjoyed it, and movies like it.

Fine, bill me for it.

I'm writing the invioce as we speak. :-P

Well, I just got back, and I have to say that there's more to this movie than meets the eye... sorry, couldn't resist.

I really, really enjoyed it. I ended up going with my dad, despite my earlier assertions, and he really enjoyed it too. He's definitely not a Transfan, not by any stretch, but he thought it was great. Now, I am a Transfan, and I thought it was, well, great.

And he only asked one question in the end. Whether the Autobot that scanned the truck as an alt mode was Prime. And, obviously, it was. However, my view of Bonecrusher's transformation was slightly spoiled by someone in the row in front standing up |-/ .

The robots themselves

Some people have said that they didn't have enough screen time, but I disagree. They're supposed to be "in disguise" and as such, are, erm, in disguise. They spend a lot of time in vehicle mode, but that's no different to the new IDW continuity.

The Autobots

Prime: Oh, it was so good to hear Cullen as Prime, in that voiceover at the beginning, especially. It just... worked.

Jazz: Interesting first line, that's all I can say. And I really hope he's back, Jazz is great.

Bumblebee: Ha, talking through the radio. That got a bit of a laugh.

Ratchet: "His pheromone levels indicate that he wishes to mate with the female." :-D

Ironhide:

Actually, did anyone notice how all the voices sounded just a little bit like the original voices. Different, yes, but somehow reminiscent.

The Decepticons

Perhaps their personalities could've been improved on slightly, but it is primarily an action film, so I really don't care. My dad said that Frenzy irritated him though. :-D

All the alt modes were cool as well, especially the Autobot vehicles. Oh, that convoy looked really good. My dad "mmmfff"ed at Brawl/Devastator, as well.

G1 homages

Not too many, which was good, but there were a few just to keep the fans happy. Prime's two catchphrases, the yellow Beetle and "MTMTE" to name but three.

The final battle

Ooh, explosions, falling buildings, smashing things up, etc. What more can I ask for.

The advertising

I tried not to look for it, especially after the long list pointed out earlier. Obviously the GMC one was a biggie, but so what?

The humour

... Was actually pretty funny. But I bet some of the parents there regretted bringing young children. Still, it's their responsibility, and their own fault.

Overall

A fantastic film, close enough to the original TF to be clearly Transfandom, but different enough to stand on it's own. Wow!

Sequel?

And, of course, Prime's final monologue leaves things open for new characters to be introduced.

So, on that, note, I ask you who you want in the sequel. Obviously, Shockwave and Soundwave are must-haves, but who else?

Mirage as a dark blue and white Caterham Seven

Arcee as the Buell Firebolt that she was originally going to be.

Chromia as a light blue Lotus Elise.

Hound as a dark green Jeep Wrangler.

Ultra Magnus as a garbage truck. (Seriously. That would be an excellent way for him to have a G1 style look.)

Rodimus as a red Corvette.

Springer as an armored truck (The kind that carry money from banks.)

Sideways as a black modified Plymouth Prowler.

Bludgeon as an orange Lamborghini Murceilago.

Galvatron as some kick-butt space ship. (Not in TF2. Maybe TF3.)

Some generic Decepticon as a black Cadillac. Maybe the could name him Cannonball.

Scourge as (Of course.) a hovercraft.

Glad you and your dad were able to enjoy it toeghter. I too went with family and friends, and they enjoyed it just as much as i did.

Now for the sequel, what are you asking? What we'd like to see,or story/plot?

I think echo has some good sugjestions. Though i'd change Hound from Jeep Wrangler, to a modified Toyota FJ Cruiser.

I'd also like to see Inferno as a heavy duty 4x4 fire engine.

As for story line,... Well lets see...

First off did you see the end credits? Cause during the running of the credits, you saw Star Scream fly off into the stratophere. Clearly the wanted to make it clear that he survied, and that he would play an important part in the sequel. We also don't know what happened to Barricade. He just disapeared after the freeway chase. I heard that he had a fight with prime right after he axed Bonecrusher, but edited it out, cause they wanted him to return as well.

Now, correct me if i'm wrong (i'm alittle rusty on my G1), but the decepticons base in G1 was under water right? My guess is that since they dumped the dead decepticons in the drink, this gives a perfect opener for there new base. Also, i'd love to see the Constructicons!! I know that Bonecrusher (and i think Brawl too 8-| ) were Constructicons, but they could be rebuilt (as i doubt thats the last we've seen of Megs).

Also, i have to ask, how did you like the opening scene where Blackout transformed? From the point were they first showed him pan over the desert, to were he unleashed ultimate destruction, I felt was just perfect.

You knew they were screwed when his rotors just instantly stoped, straighted out, and folded back. Then you heard the G1 sound! *wub* Just awsome!

I meant who, as in new characters. But 'what' is also fine. :-)

I'll come back with my suggestions soon. I wasn't expecting alt modes as well, so now I've got my work cut out to make good choices. Much like I've done (in my opinion) with my WWII redesigns. More on those later.

I did see the end credits with Screamer. I made a point of staying.

I think I've heard that IDWs Movie-verse will hava a 'Search for Starscream' storyline. And I think I've also heard that Barricade's disappearence may be a plotline for TF2. The IDW Movie Adaptation and the Novel both have Barricade die (I think), but they're not canon. He's not seen in the film, so presume he's still out there, kind of thing.

Obviously Megs'll survive, they can't have another TF film without Megs. Producer Tom DeSanto said somewhere that he had a good idea of how to include the Constructicons, the Dinobots and Soundwave in the sequel. Bay also said he had some idea, including 'an aircraft carrier character.' Perhaps Broadside. Oh, and Bonecrusher was a Constructicon, Brawl wasn't- he was a Combaticon.

And the Decepticons were based underwater in the G1 cartoon, apart from 'Heavy Metal War' where they had a mountain. And obviously the new IDW series has the Decepticons in a mountain.

Actually, one other thing about the Movie. Everyone calls Prime 'Optimus' rather than 'Prime' as they do in the comics, cartoon, etc. That's probably right actually, as Prime is the 'add-on,' denoting his special status. Just an interesting point.

Now, speaking of the IDW series, I've now finished the books I bought last week in Manchester. I've already discussed Infiltration and Stormbringer, so all I'll mention of them are the covers. You know those book covers that use the regular cover, then almost emboss certain bits of picture in a gloss? Well, all four books use that. Infiltraion has the IDW logo, the TF logo, Jazz on the front and Screamer on the back embossed; Stormbringer has the TF logo, the IDW logo and the blurb box embossed; Escalation has the IDW and TF logos, Hardhead and Astrotrain on the front and Jazz and Prowl on the back; and Spotlights has Shockwave (that's really cool). I didn't notice before, as the books from the library were in those protective wallet-things.

Escalation

A nice continuation of what's gone before. Not much Bumblebee this time, and Sunstreaker's taken out pretty early on, but Wheeljack and Jazz get bigger roles. And obviously Megs and Prime arrive properly, and have a mammoth fight in Brasnya. That's pretty cool.

Hot Rod and Nightbeat arrive from their Spotlights, and Hardhead arrives from nowhere as well. There's also a bizarre error on the subject of Hot Rod's legs. They keep switching colour between pages. One minute they're the correct red, the next they're inexplicbly blue.

Then the whole thing ends on a cliffhanger, which I won't spoil. There's also an in-joke bonus as well, with the garage that Ratchet and Ironhide stakeout being called 'Idea and Design Works' (IDW), and leaflets in the garage advertising 'Seibertron Cars' and 'Binaltech Airfilters.'

There're also less bonuses this time around. Because a cover gallery is included, the artists sketchbook is limited to a sketch of Blitzwing in robot mode, a diagram of Wheeljack's shoulder missiles and a few faces.

Spotlights

Shockwave

First off, it's Shockwave. Need I say more? Well, I'm going to anyway. The story ties in nicely with the rest of the IDW-verse, and features the Dinobots, who take on Beast Wars style alt modes with synthetic flesh to protect themselves from Shockwave's energon deposits. Nick Roche's art is, frankly, fantastic too, which is an added bonus. All that and I managed to read it in rehersal yesterday! :-D

Nightbeat

Not really sure what to make of Nightbeat. MD Bright's artwork seems to harken back to the Marvel G1 comics of old, and it all ends on a slightly sininster cliffhanger (ha, I almost wrote Cliffjumper there, accidentally), foreshadowing something to come...

Hot Rod

Nick Roche again. Hot Rod comes across well, with the classic daredevil personality we know and love, but something deeper hidden behind it. And it all ends on, yep you guessed it, a big cliffhanger.

Sixshot

I dunno, it just didn't engage me. It's not bad, I just didn't enjoy it as much as the others.

Ultra Magnus

Better. I quite like Magnus anyway, so this was bound to be a good read. We also get to see more of Nebulos, and a 'transformable man.' Ooh, tantalising.

Roll on volume 2! :-D

Last thing, my WWII designs. There're more coming, I promise. I'm mainly focusing on planning/sketching the designs first, before drawing a proper, neat copy for presentation here. They're on their way...

EDIT: I nearly forgot. Last weeks in TRU I had a look at the Voyagers just to see which ones they had. All I could find were the usual suspects- Blackout and Ratchet. But then, tucked away behind something else was... Starscream. I didn't buy him, I just felt it was worth pointing out. That means Wave 2 Voyagers, and possibly Deluxes could start popping up in some places.

EDIT 2: Oh, and the opening scene, I forgot about that as well. You know, I didn't realise that it was the first scene until I actually saw it. I thought it would've come later on. But it was good. Even though I was expecting it, as I knew Blackout's alt mode, it was still good. And it had the G1 sound.

Actually, that's another thing. All the transformation were a lot more acrobatic than they've ever really been. Not that that's a bad thing, just different.

I found both Starscream and Ironhide in a Sainsbury's about a week ago. I bought Starscream a few days later in a different Sainsbury's, having lucked out a week before in finding Ironhide and Jazz in a TRU. Yesterday I made a trip to Argos to get BB08 and Optimus Voyager double pack. Awesome figures all of them. I highly recommend. Now I need to get Ratchet for a complete Autobot lineup!

Any recommendations for other Decepticons? I'm thinking about Barricade but the arm gimmick is putting me off, Bonecrusher is pretty short, Brawl has crazy shoulder problems in deluxe form and is expensive as a leader (although excellent looking), and Megatron could only be a leader to me although I'm reluctant to drop that kind of money on him. I think I'll be getting Wreckage though since he reminds me of Dinobot and is super cool, although he doesn't appear in the film.

Even though I was expecting it, as I knew Blackout's alt mode, it was still good. And it had the G1 sound.

Actually, that's another thing. All the transformation were a lot more acrobatic than they've ever really been. Not that that's a bad thing, just different.

Ya, knew that it was Blackout the second they showed him pan over the desert. I thought it was a great way to get the movie goin. The fact that his alt mode was a CH-53 that was shot down 3 months prior was a good call with the screen/script writers. Great way to bring him in to the the base.

Nice finds. I might look out for Ironhide, I quite like him now after having seen him on screen. I wasn't too sure before.

And, of course, I'll continue to search for Wave 2 Movie Legends, I love all the small figs- affordable, semi-accurate and just a little bit cute. Unfortunately all I've been able to find so far is Wave 1, and I now own all of them (Jazz, Bumblebee, Barricade and Ratchet).

And, look on the bright side, you'll be able to find Ratchet anywhere...

Bear in mind that I don't actually own any of the figs (yet?). Personally, I'm not too bothered about any of the non-movie Movie figs. So that means no Swindle, Wreckage, Payload, etc. So that leaves Blackout, 2x Brawl, Bonecrusher, Barricade, Scorponok and 2x Megs.

I don't know which figs you have, but I wouldn't bother with Scorponok as the small one in Blackout suffices and is in better scale. Deluxe Brawl has the shoulder problems you mentioned, and Megs and Leader Brawl are perhaps a little expensive (although it might be worth it for Brawl). I actually quite like Bonecrusher. He's accurate enough, and the stubbiness only adds to the fig IMO. I mean, he's a little squat in the film, isn't he?

So, obviously, it's completely up to you, but I would recommend either Barricade (the arm gimmick doesn't look all that bad, and there's a small Frenzy fig included) or Bonecrusher. But like I said, I don't own either fig, so take my thoughts with a pinch of salt.

And let's face it, it was probably shot down by one of the Decepticons anyway. Perhaps by Blackout himself after he scanned it.

EDIT: Could this be TF Animated Soundwave? As in, an official image?

I actually have Barricade and Deluxe Brawl. I'd recommend Barricade, he's pretty solid all around. The punching thing is pretty weak though. Deluxe Brawl ain't that bad. Sure, the arms don't hold, but they can just be clamped down. The Leader version definitely looks better though. All depends on how much you're willing to pay for Brawl I guess.

That's definitely animated Soundwave, it matches the prototype in all ways except the giant axe that becomes Lazerbeak. (So I've heard.) However, I doubt it's legit. I believe an image of Starscream showed up in a similar fashion.
