Nice modifications, it really makes the crane look more "complete". I for one don't mind the battery box standing out, I think it fits the way it is.

The only thing that saves the battery in my opinion is that in real life they have metal plates that they add as counterweights. These plates are solid steel and sometimes are grey.

Yeah, sometimes painted in whatever color the vehicle has, or just steel gray. Personally I've only seen those counterweights painted.

I think it looks good like it is, all yellow would be a bit boring.

Agreed, the one set that battery box actually fits in with is the 42009 because of the counterweights.

I'm definitely going to try filling mine in once I get it built, but I'm going to need to order some parts through Bricklink since I don't have any yellow left.

I made some mods to the crane, all aesthetic mods. The crane looks even more beautiful.

Some beams, panels, an exhaust system to the truck and an exhaust system to the super structure.
