Does anybody know if it will be a regular set or a set that you can buy only taking the plane?

I just hope that it will not be the last proposition. Even if it's not THE set of the year, it's always good to have new old school plane...

I don't travel much.. but here in the USA I have Never seen any airport shops selling legos...

looks like a promo set.

a promo set normally is produced by lego on behalf of another company. The Maersk ship for instance, was initially a business gift from Maersk to highly regarded customers. They simply financed the operation and lego produced the model. Several airliners have done the same, just as Shell. Especially these Shell sets were ideal: you could easily buy them in a the small shop of the petrol station and it kept the kids quiet during the ride... Because they're produced in fairly low numbers, they're quite rare and expensive. We have Lego sets at the Brussels airport, there even is a Lego shop at Billund airport, but both only sell the official stuff, not the promos. If you want the promos, you either have to go directly to the office of the airline company at the airport (usually the 1st class section); or you have to ask for them in the airplane.

Nice plane, but strange stretcher, I wonder if it goes in completely or without the big undercarriage.

It looks like the entire backside of the plane can be flipped up to install the stretcher (Or is that not a hinge I see right behind the cockpit roof?).

I have to say that I have called airlines in the past and just recently, but no one could tell me how I can get these promotional items, nor could they tell me who I should contact.

I will do some more snooping if I find out anything I will post it here >:-) . For now hang in there, I know I will.

I hate promos because... well, they are hard to find. This one looks really nice, And I like planes with propellers. If lego put this out in shops, I would buy it for sure, Probably my first ambulance set.

That's a nice promo set! I definetly will go to a store and buy it whenever it come out. It has Steven Spielberg. I wish TLC would make those doors for vehicles again, like they used to do.

Well, I remember once being able to buy an airline promo off S@H directly, I guess thats where they end up if theres ever a surplus of them after the deals over...

Looking closer at this picture... I'm not sure the tail flips up anymore. Right behind what looks like a hinge on its back is a flat studless area. I think it must be this:

The patient has to go in lying on top of the stretcher supplied, if it is just a hatch in the back of this airplane I doubt the whole thing will go through there.

In short: I'll stick to the "entire-tail-flip-theory"... :-)

Not really. It looks quite different than that plane. Unfortunately, though I would love to grab this baby, it's only on Lufthansa...right? The only airline I ever used to go to Europe was United Airways, Continental, and TAP.
