MiloNelsiano Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I'm calling this MOC "next-to-complete". Some of the colors do not match and will be changed eventually, and obviously I need to add sails and rigging, but with our first baby on the way, I just simply can't afford to place another order on BrickLink. I have really enjoyed building this ship, and although it isn't anywhere near the kind of quality I have admired from many of you members here on EuroBricks, I am quite proud of it, especially considering the amount of Legos I have at my disposal. Building it really filled a gap in my childhood when I could not afford to have the amazing pirate sets I always wanted. Anyway, here is my pirate vessel that I have dubbed Easy Eleanor. Please give me honest feedback--don't hold back any nasty comments! First is Captain William Quick, AKA Captain Quick. Ship by milo.nelsiano, on Flickr Next the Quarter Master, Edward Moody. Ship by milo.nelsiano, on Flickr And here is the Helmsman, Samuel Martin. Ship by milo.nelsiano, on Flickr And the VooDoo Witch Doctor, only known to the crew as "Bones". Ship by milo.nelsiano, on Flickr I really want to ad a carpenter as well as other basic deck hands, but the remainder of my pirate type minifig pieces are tied up in my chess board, capturing two of my favorite Lego themes--obviously heavily influenced by the official Lego chess boards--but with a few of my own touches. Ship by milo.nelsiano, on Flickr Ship by milo.nelsiano, on Flickr I hope you have enjoyed at least something from this. If you have, please let me know. It means a lot. If you have honest criticism, let me have it, please--I appreciate it just as much. Quote
Esurient Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Great work on th ship! Love the double deck cannons, mermaid statue, and the crew! I like how you presented each minifigure separately with their associated accessories! Of all the minifigures, I like the voodoo witch doctor the best! nice work on the chess layout as well Quote
Matteo1130 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Wow, looks nice now! A very minor change could be made: you may place fences on sides leaving the access to the weather deck in the middle part instad of the front part and (but this is just cosmetic) you may build a balcony on the stern to cover the "gap" between arcs and hull. Nice work! Quote
Xcod119 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Good designed ship, Good idea to use the Jack Sparrow hat for a Witch Doctor! Quote
mrsniady1 Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Nice ship. She sure needs some final touch, but most parts are already in place. And one thing - with those 18 guns she shouldn't be called 'easy':-). Quote
MiloNelsiano Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 (edited) Witch Doctor, Wooooohoooo! (Nice ship, too!) Good designed ship, Good idea to use the Jack Sparrow hat for a Witch Doctor! Great work on th ship! Love the double deck cannons, mermaid statue, and the crew! I like how you presented each minifigure separately with their associated accessories! Of all the minifigures, I like the voodoo witch doctor the best! nice work on the chess layout as well I thought that he might be a favorite for people, as it's something you don't see that common in pirate MOCs. I was laughing before using the Jack Sparrow hat for the him, as It didn't matter what minifig I put the hat on, it still looked like Jack Sparrow. But then I started making the witch doctor, and it really seemed to work perfectly without looking too Jack Sparrowish. Wow, looks nice now! A very minor change could be made: you may place fences on sides leaving the access to the weather deck in the middle part instad of the front part and (but this is just cosmetic) you may build a balcony on the stern to cover the "gap" between arcs and hull. Nice work! I think I agree to have the weather deck access in the center. This makes more sense to me as well. Thanks! And a balcony on the stern is definitely something I've been considering, but because of the finances I've mentioned I'm simply unable to do it at this time. Sebeus I Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 Yes, that looks a lot better than your first attempt, a well balanced broadside and more realistic shape. Some windows on the stern itself would be nice, keep it up. Quote
jluck Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I really like it! I am anxious to see how it will look when it all comes together, certainly it has a lot of potential! Quote
