Mataroa Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 (edited) I woke up early, got bored quickly. So I went to LDD to try an idea, and it turned into this. (The way the turret mounts is NOT my idea. I borrowed it from this brilliant lad, give his tank a look by clicking the link below!) (http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=84058) -Crew of 3 -Gun elevates to 34 degrees and depresses to -13 degrees -550 bricks total, including tank, crew, and decorations. gryffindorcommonroom Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Love the MOC; although the barrel is a bit too short for my taste. Quote
Yiharua Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Nice creation! It takes the main aspects of the tanks and so looks like one. The barrel coulld be improved though. The rest of the tank is perfect as it is. ;). 2 hours of work well used. :). Thank you for mentioning my tank. I am very proud of it, and the fact that it has helped you to end your creation is fantastic. :). P.S.: How do you manage to put the chains in LDD!? It has been a headache for me since I download it... :(. Quote
Mataroa Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 (edited) P.S.: How do you manage to put the chains in LDD!? I won't lie, it was time-consuming since this was the first time for me doing it. It'll get better with time. 1. You have to get the tank propped off the ground. Put plates on the underside and let it be raised off the ground by one plate (1/3 of a block) 2. Make a line of tracks off to the side. These can be any length, you can put more later. 3. Drag the tank over the tracks. Try to make the gap between the wheel and the tracks as minimal as possible by removing the plates you put earlier. 4. Use the Hinge tool repeatedly on each individual track link to go up. (I used smaller angles on the front to make it as though the tracks were loose-fitting, hence the curve.) 5. Once you reach a higher wheel and you want to bend around it, keep using the Hinge tool to make the tracks hug the wheel. THANKFULLY, LDD will ignore the teeth on the driver gears. 6. Clone the tracks and make your way around all the wheels. Since my tracks had some slack, I took the time to add the effect of each track contouring to the wheel - this is NOT necessary, especially if you have smaller wheels above the road wheels. 7. Eventually you'll make it around. Don't worry about making the two ends connect. That'll only get you fustrated and waste your time, Just make them as close as possible... 8. To save time, all you have to do is clone the tracks and place them across to the other side. If your tank fits with the grid, it will work. Make sure you delete the wheels you cloned accidentally. This gentleman did a nice job of the process, click here: (Skip to about 10:00) Edited July 26, 2013 by Mataroa Quote
