Minds beyond your own determine your course. So, if the Warlord was meant to die here, he would have fallen in battle. He would be dead already. That he is not, and more tellingly, seems to be important in this struggle, suggests that you would not be able to kill him anyway. Perhaps, along with your equally blunt mace, you'd like a weapon that may make a bit of a dent. I've given it some thought. This axe will do better in your hands, and perhaps it will be a reminder to you how correct you always are." Boomingham picks up the Axe of the Minotaur Champion from where he dropped it at the beginning of the battle and hands it to the elf. He then takes out 250 gold and tosses it onto the pile.
