GuiliuG Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) Hello everybody ! The MOC I'm currently working on is a new version of the jeep hurricane. Remember, one year ago, I made this : (click on the picture to read the full review). This model works very similarly to the real jeep hurricane but isn't very functionnal in lego technic. So I had in mind to build another version, built in a simplier way to work efficiently with lego bricks. Here is the prototype of the chassis : (click on the picture to read the full review). And here is the video where everything is explained : Edited July 12, 2013 by GuiliuG Quote
DLuders Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Good explanation -- how many months did you work on this? P.S. You sound like Jean Claude Von Damme! Quote
jorgeopesi Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Wow build this model is really funny, good job. Quote
Splat Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 (edited) Thank you for this video - I think you did a great job of explaining the functions, and I especially like that you showed the steering mechanism as a separate model so that we could see how it works. :-D PS. I left this same comment on your YouTube video page. Edited July 13, 2013 by Splat Quote
allanp Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Very efficient design, well done. Do you have a second servo motor to steer the rear wheels? Using two separate motors you would have the power needed and also have the two remaining steering modes (4 wheel steer and crab steer). Quote
GuiliuG Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 I spent one month designing this chassis, with roughly 50houres of work. Ddulers, is it a compliment to sound like Jean Claude Von Damme or not? Thanks for your comments Splat and jorgeopsi. If everything explained in the video is clear enough, then I've reached my goal I have only one servo-motor for the moment Allanp and I don't plan to add a second one in this model for some reasons. First of all, the car won't look as a jeep hurricane so it's not important if it doesn't have the same steering mod as the real jeep hurricane. More over, there will probably be building instructions for this model, and the cheaper the model, the better. Quote
Junpei Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Is that Machpherson strut suspension just upside down? Or does that 6l link count as suspension arm? Also does it have camber or caster and can it be steered by the shock absorber? Sorry for the late reply. Quote
GuiliuG Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) It's not a Macpherson strut suspension which looks like this : Which owns one triangular part in the bottom ( while my suspension setup has two links in the bottom (so two contact points with the portal axle). It has positive caster angle and a slightly camber angle (still positive). And I don't excactly understand what you mean by 'can it be steered by the shock absorber' ? It's steered by rack, as most of the lego cars. Edited July 14, 2013 by GuiliuG Quote
piterx Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 that's a really cool project man :) i remember your old one but i didn't get a word in your old video because i don't know french thanks for speaking english this time hehe Quote
Junpei Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I mean like in , I just thought it might because the shock absorber is mounted on a ball joint and has a fixed attachment on the portal axle. Quote
GuiliuG Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 Yes, it could but you will never use the spring like that because it would be too complicated to link the spring to the motor (if not impossible). Quote
Doc_Brown Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Such as awesome moc man! Thanks for sharing. Good luck completing it! Quote
