piterx Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 (edited) Hi there! this is the sequential gearbox i made for my Lancia Fulvia. It's based on Sheepo's gearbox concept but it has a different activating system that, even if it's less precise, it's way smaller and lighter. If you wanna see it in action watch the Fulvia's video below ;) hope you have a nice reverse engineering session ^^ Edited July 9, 2013 by piterx Quote
cgg199 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Great gearbox, and I'll definitely be using a modified version for myself. Could you show a picture with all the shifting mechanism hidden so I can see the gears clearly? Quote
piterx Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 here it is sir :) if you use the auto clutch system here you'll need a brake system too....otherwise your car will gain speed in a slope without any chance to stop it remotely anyway i suggest you to use it because it guarantees a smooth shift without grinding gears :) ah, the gearbox is far from perfect...but it does its job Quote
Doc_Brown Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Very good! Inside the red rings, they are just normal 2l connectors yeah? Not the fancy tan knobbly ones. :P Quote
piterx Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 oh yeah i forgot to tell that thing :P yeah, regular 2l connectors...and you have to put them in the way they slide with less friction possible Quote
cgg199 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 And they have to a certain way around if I'm not mistaken, to reduce friction further. Quote
The Ghost Racer Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Good job! I am planning a gerabox trucks for trial, which is very heat resistant so as not to allow the gears to slip between theme, but I never have time panes to begin its implementation. Quote
cgg199 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 You'll never guess what! I've modified this gearbox, and it fits in the space that I wanted it. It's slightly less accurate, but the shifter is more compact because the arm with the blue cross axles isn't there. I used worms gears instead, and the arm doesn't leave the area of the gearbox. piterx Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 :D really nice man! i'd be curious to see how you made it! Quote
cgg199 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I'll post a picture of the LDD file in a bit. It just needs some finishing off. Quote
cgg199 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) There you are. I don't know how it will perform in real life, but theoretically, it should be fine. The bit that moves... Edited July 12, 2013 by cgg199 Quote
piterx Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 nice one! i just hope the sled won't wobble around :) build it and let me know! it seems a nice solution anyway ! Quote
cgg199 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) Each of the 3L axles above the long worm drive, hold an 8 tooth gear, except the end ones. Due to them being 3 studs apart, the 4 stud gear rack, will always be in contact with 2 of the gears. Unfortunately I don't have the right parts to build it, so I guess someone else will have to. Doc_Brown Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 @cgg199 if you would upload the lfx file, I Would be happy to give it a shot! :D Quote
cgg199 Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 (edited) Now how do I do that? I updated the shifting mechanism, for a shorter gearbox! Edited July 13, 2013 by cgg199 Quote
