NORAN Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Good staff, there it is another MOC. This is a FMC based master controller, it is used to control a manipulator (slave arm). I've used 1 NXT, 3 PF receptor, 4 PF motors and one servo PF. The NXT to PF comunication was made using a IRLINK sensor, from HiTechnic. Its accuracy will always depend of the PF batteries, because we used a time variable of the positioning of the manipulator since it does not have the feedback, so if you have constant power, the calibration will be easy and very accurate. The display of the NXT is also possible to see all the variations that will be performed. The program has been made right on the NXT software, and used a system similar to Token Ring to store and run the values of variations. I hope you enjoy Quote
Saberwing40k Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I've thought about this, but I've never seen anyone actually build a system like this. Thing is, as you mentioned, it is inherently inaccurate due to the pf motors. Quote
NORAN Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 PF's really not very accurate, but if you have a constant supply, other than batteries, (I'm working on a direct source of power network), you can adjust the time in the program in milliseconds making it very precise. :) and sorry for my bad english;) Quote
Doc_Brown Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Wow, great machine! I'm wondering would it work better if you had the arm controlled by NXT motors instead of PF ones? Awesome work tho! Quote
Sariel Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 You would get a better response time and much higher accuracy connecting two NXT units over Bluetooth like this: http://sariel.pl/2012/03/nxt-brick-to-brick-remote/ Quote
NORAN Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Thank you guys, now I'll see if i could write a program to execute the commands. Regarding use 2 NXTs, is a bit unfeasible 'cause here in Brazil it is very expensive, and with the arriving of EV3, I am in doubt which one to buy. Do you have any suggestions on what I should buy, the EV3 or NXT? Quote
