StickFig Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 RE: Stick man's question in 102 (sorry, quoting is a pain on mobile): Nerwen already has +1 Hinckwell rep from another Quest; by taking another +1 Hinckwell and then +1 Shadeaux, she ends up with a total of +1 to both, meaning Nerwen would only need one more from either one to unlock the or Expert Class. Is that how it works? I thought reputation worked like this: ____________3_2_1_0_1_2_3___________ HINCKWELL <- - - -|- - - -> SHADEAUX BONAPARTE <- - - -|- - - -> JI PEI ZIEGFRIED <- - - -|- - - -> INVISION So that if Nerwen already had +1 Hinckwell rep, her bar looks like this: ____________3_2_1_0_1_2_3___________ HINCKWELL <- - -|- - - - -> SHADEAUX Then she takes the Hinckwell rep, so her bar looks like this: ____________3_2_1_0_1_2_3___________ HINCKWELL <- -|- - - - - -> SHADEAUX So then if she takes the Shadeaux rep, her bar goes back where she started: ____________3_2_1_0_1_2_3___________ HINCKWELL <- - -|- - - - -> SHADEAUX That said, I think it would be better if reputation worked like this: ___________0_1_2_3__ HINCKWELL: |- - - -> SHADEAUX: |- - - -> BONAPARTE: |- - - -> JI PEI: |- - - -> ZIEGFRIED: |- - - -> INVISION: |- - - -> WOLFGANG: |- - - -> That way, it would be up to QMs to decide how the reputation plays out. For example, in #102, there's no way for the Hinckwells to know that the characters' reputation with the Shadeaux was going up, or vice versa. We worked for both. So Nerwen and the rest should be able to get both reputations, meaning Nerwen's final graph looks like this: ___________0_1_2_3__ HINCKWELL: - -|- -> SHADEAUX: -|- - -> Quote
CMP Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 It's not that simple. Whenever your reputation goes up for the Hinckwells, your Shadeuax reputation decreases by 1, but the minimum is at 0. So Nerwen would have Good reputation with both factions. It's possible to have Great reputation with the Hinckwells and Good reputation with the Shadeuax at the same time if you're dedicated enough. Lind Whisperer Posted September 6, 2014 Posted September 6, 2014 Speaking of the Shadeaux: How do you get a dragon? Do you just enter the training room, and come out with one? And are they strictly for battle rolls, or is it alright to RP them a little bit? Quote

Asphalt Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 I'm sorry about this probably obvious question, but is anything that is not a weapon considered an artifact? ie. armor, hats, gloves, boots etc? OR are only items listed as having magical powers considered artifacts? And how do you know if it is an artifact or not if it has no powers listed? Quote
Kintobor Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Generally the item will say "Artefact" in it's description. Some artefacts are simple stat modifiers or provide immunities to certain effects, while others have more complex purposes. The Catsuit per example makes the wearer have a 1/3 chance to avoid free hits, damage, and countering, while the Ethereal Cloak simple adds 2 more points of SP and 4 more points of Maximum Ether. If the item has no description, ask your QM. It may just be a mistake on their part. Quote
Asphalt Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 The question came up over wearing a Tricorne hat and Light armor at the same time at level three. Neither have Artifact in the description or a magical effect. Quote
Kintobor Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Both items are still considered as artefacts, since they still give you a bonus to your stats that is consistent. It doesn't need to have a "magical effect" to be considered an artefact; if it gives of a constant effect, it's an artefact. Consumable's are one use items, once you use them, there gone. Does that make sense? Edited September 8, 2014 by Kintobor Quote
Asphalt Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 So ANY armor that gives SP is considered to be an artifact Quote
Kintobor Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) With the exception of Shields, which are only usable by knights, yes, and since your not at level 10 yet, you can only equip one artefact. Remember, if it's a constant effect, it's always an artefact, even ones that just give you SP bonuses. Edited September 8, 2014 by Kintobor Quote
Asphalt Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 ok, that clears it all up. Thank you. Quote
CMP Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Special Guard, however, should. I don't know why I always forget it - it's a useful skill and I also have it. Isn't Special Guard specifically for negative effects? Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Ethereal enemies are immune to all elements, so a fire etereal enemy would still be immune to all elements, correct? Quote
CMP Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Ethereal enemies are immune to all elements, so a fire etereal enemy would still be immune to all elements, correct? No, they would take normal damage from water and rock elemental damage. Don't think of it as being immune to all elements, just think of it as just another enemy type that happens to be strong against every element. Edited September 8, 2014 by CallMePie Quote
Zepher Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Isn't Special Guard specifically for negative effects? Yes. So both Chrome and I were wrong, and you are right. I will never learn the rules to this game. Quote
KotZ Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Asphalt, I added in on your inventory and equipment "bodywear" on the armor so you and others in the future don't get confused. Quote
Asphalt Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Thanks, sorry for the initial confusion. Quote
Actaeon Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Searched around for the answer for this and couldn't find the answer, so I'll ask it here. How exactly is reputation scaled? Right now Actaeon has +1 with both Shadeaux and the Wolf Gang. Does that mean he has a "Good" reputation with them? If so, is +2 "Great"? Quote

CMP Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Siercon walks up to the counter "I would like to buy the arm mounted shield, but first I have a couple questions about it if you don't mind." Siercon Continues. "It says 'shield' in the name, I assume you can upgrade it's SP as it is a defensive shield? Lastly, when I am able to carry a full size shield, I assume this can attach to my arm as an 'accessory' whilst my shield is held in the hand, thus both can be equipped at the same time?" "If this is correct, I would like to buy the arm mounted shield please." The Arm-Mounted Shield is an artifact and has nothing to do with an actual shield. You can't upgrade it but can equip both it and an actual shield at the same time. Quote

I agree that it's confusing, but you can't upgrade the SP of the Arm Shield except with Bright Polish. You can use it at the same time as a regular shield, though. Quote
