Comrade Commander Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Are Heros permitted to drink Poisons/Venoms like they can potions and remedies and such? Along these lines, when a player is creating their character, are they able to pick undead/ghost as their "race" and be immune to physical attacks right from the start? The reason I relate it to the on going discussion about poison is because I seem to remember reading an encounter where poisons healed the enemy, and potions hurt. Could be an interesting dynamic for an undead player.... Quote
Zepher Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 They cannot. That was a cheat that people tried very early in the game. You can be undead, but will be treated the same as any other hero. Look at Sorrow. Quote
Chromeknight Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 The in game reasoning is that the magic macguffin that stops the heroes dying on the job makes them all the same 'type'. I like the change to confused, Sandy! Of course, ANOTHER hero could still just remedy them, but it is a least a little bit better. I agree it needs to be more potent, and if it means that if Guts gets confused he'd KO his whole team, then he better go get immunity to confused in my opinion - I don't think we need to figure out anything about PvP. So, if I take the opposite side to Guts in a battle, I'm going to get knocked around, but should survive more than a single round, depending on the PvP rules in play. But if I'm on the same side, he gets confused and hits me, it'd be a one hit KO? Quote

I think the in-universe explanation is that you're so physically close to your party members that you don't have a lot of time or room to get out of the way, which is why interactions between party members ignore row. Zepher Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I dunno. If a rat were to join Guts' party and then PvP began, it'd probably survive longer than if it was in the enemy force. Maybe he just also gets a bit better at fighting when someone else is controlling his actions. Besides, we can't balance the whole game around Guts. Most players could survive a blow from a fellow hero, and it's only a 1/2 chance anyway, and only if you neglect to remedy them. In 105, which is a pretty advanced party, I could survive a blow from every single one of my companions if they were to be confused. Quote

Ditto for Hoke or Monk in #121. Meanwhile, Dyric would fall even easier than Nerwen. Meh. Maybe that says it's fine then. Tanks stay up, DoTs and Controllers fall. Quote

Lind Whisperer Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Can Venom be applied to hands, if a character is fighting barefisted? Quote
The Chosen Minifigure Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Can Venom be applied to hands, if a character is fighting barefisted? I would say yes it can, but the hero will both be poisoned and apply poison. Quote
Chromeknight Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Hands are not a weapon type. Hence cannot have effects applied to them. Quote
Sandy Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Can Venom be applied to hands, if a character is fighting barefisted? No. As Chromeknight said, hands are not a weapon type. I would say yes it can, but the hero will both be poisoned and apply poison. Don't make up your own rules, please. Quote
Sandy Posted January 24, 2015 Author Posted January 24, 2015 Will there ever be a "Warlock" class? If someone makes one up that is different enough from all the 48 job classes already in the game. Do you just want a job class named like that or is there something special about warlocks that would make a good job class? FYI, the Sorcerer job class used to be called Warlock in the early plans. I'll be honest and say yes to both. The name "Warlock" is pretty badass, in my opinion, and there could be something special about them. I've been playing a little bit of Destiny as of recently and I was thinking a "Warlock" class would be neat. They'd be restricted to use Staves, Swords (without shields), Blunt weapons, and ranged like Bows and Crossbows. They can manipulate certain elements differently like Fire where there's a skill called "Cleansing Fire" which cleans the player of any diseases and debuffs. An ability called "Pheonix" or something would be cool where if the player dies, he/she can't resurrect them self to half health if dead once per battle or quest. Those are some thoughts I had that immediately came to mind if there would be a "Warlock" class. Edited January 24, 2015 by Goliath Quote
Asphalt Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I just picture a male witch when I hear the word Warlock. That and Julian Sands Quote
LordoftheNoobs Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I always think of Warlocks as demon summoners. Maybe something like that could be incorporated? Quote
Khorne Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I always think of Warlocks as demon summoners. Maybe something like that could be incorporated? Then you could just play as an Evoker if you want to summon stuff . Quote
Yzalirk Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 As for my Warlock pitch, I just got this idea, what about a Mage/Warlock class called "Deathsinger"? Quote
Sandy Posted January 25, 2015 Author Posted January 25, 2015 As for my Warlock pitch, I just got this idea, what about a Mage/Warlock class called "Deathsinger"? Okay, listen. If you want to make suggestions about a class, do it so in the "Expert Job Class Discussion" -topic, and please post more than just a name for a class. Anyone can come up with names for classes, but if you don't offer anything else, there's not much to discuss. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 For the purposes of getting a second character, I propose that hosting a quest is equal to participating in 3 successful quests, since it's already 15 participated/5 hosted. Also, I forget, but how to the trips to the Fields count? Quote
K-Nut Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Also, I forget, but how to the trips to the Fields count? They count as one of the 15 quests participated in. Quote

JimBee Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I think so. I've hosted 4 quests and participated in 14, and would go so far as to say I'm a decent contributor to this game. The same applies to many who have been involved for a long time now, but I can also see why there are higher standards than even that for having a second character. Quote
Waterbrick Down Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 I agree seems like a good conversion and an appropriate gauge of involvement. Quote
