Henrik Ludvigsen Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I and the Danish LUG byggepladen will improve our record in the Guinness Book of Records. We have the current record on 4.000,25 meters. We will make 42.195 meters - the same distance of a marathon. Henrik Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Do you mean over 42 Km's or 4.2 Km's ? In any case, good luck to you and your LUG on the next record attempt. Brick On 'Henrik' ! Quote
eurotrash Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Good luck! When are you hoping to make the attempt? Quote

Henrik Now, thát is really a big improvement.. that is a pretty long distance... do you combine it with a Marathon, that would be cool... people running along the Lego-track for over 42 KM... Hope to see some pictures soon.. 42 KM is really awesome, and way better than the record so far!! Succes!!! Quote

Sounds amazing and wonderful however you may do it! Good luck! Quote
UrbanErwin Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Wait, how big were the 4 kilometers, where on earth will you find space for 42 kilometers? Quote
Henrik Ludvigsen Posted July 3, 2013 Author Posted July 3, 2013 It is 42.195 meters. The same distance of a maraton run. It will not be made of the old blue tracks. Where and when - do not know yet. Henrik Quote

LEGO Guy Bri Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 then what tracks, not 9V I am sure The blue put-them-together tracks of course! After all he is the 'Blue track World Champion' Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 42Km? Really? hat does seem a bit of a stretch for LEGO Trains, not saying it cannot be done, but would the batteries last that long? (Assuming it is 4.5V or PF?) If it is one of the other systems how are you going to get the power to that length of track? Seems a bit extreme but i wish you luck with it. Quote
splatman Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 One thing about 42Km of LEGO track: The whole World will hear about it! And you won't even need a computer, TV, radio, or newspaper. Even the tribesmen deep in the Amazon jungle will get the news. Which translate into more brand awareness for TLG. Then they better get ready for (by then not quite) unexpected surge in demand for LEGO Sets, especially Trains. Yes, I read the above posts; it's not 42Km, it's 42 point 195 meters. No where near 1Km, let alone 42Km. Or is everyone else reading it right, and I got it wrong? 42m seems like child's play. Quote

peterab Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 This is a completely insane challenge of which I approve. Best of luck with it. I can't even begin to imagine the logistics of getting the track all together. Quote
Kivi Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 What are you going to undertake is really insane. In a very positive sense, of course. I believe it will probably have to be done on RC tracks. Being very long since out of production, I wonder if there are 42+ kms of blue tracks still in existence today. And if you really make it, I am sure that you will also find a way for the train to complete the distance in one go. You have my moral support. Quote
Barduck Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 for battery life, as in having enough power the whole 9 yards (well, 42km in fact) they could just build some extra cars that are pulled by the train, each having, let's say 2 battery packs, all connected in series. This extents how much power they hold extremely, thus giving a longer power when needed. Quote
Legogal Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Can't wait to see this video...for sure! It should get unbelievable coverage from the world press. Which can't but help LEGO... if the darn thing works. Any ideas about getting a sponsor to help defray the cost? As much as I detest ads, this could help speed up the completion date. Maybe it could be part of an Energizer/battery ad campaign. etc. Quote

Would it be series or parallel?, i think maybe parallel to keep the voltage to 9V but I like the idea, will sure keep the train chugging for longer Quote
Man with a hat Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 This is crazy. And I think it is fantastic. I was already amazed by the previous record, but I cannot yet envision this record. It is too mindboggling. Quote

Dat Lego Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I was already mindblown when I saw the first attempt at YouTube, I couldn't imagine how this one will be made. Good luck! Quote
