bruce n h Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Hi all, Classic-Castle is pleased to announce the Castle Contest LEGO has offered the upcoming 2007 Castle sets as prizes, and the contest will be administered by Classic-Castle. Starwars4J Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Hi there, great contest. If I was anywhere near my bricks I'd be all over it ;-) One question though, for the categories, I just see the descriptions of the items. Am I correct to assume we'd make our own version of each set? Thanks Quote
oo7 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Thanks for poing this out, Bruce. I just might make an acount and enter. Am I correct to assume we'd make our own version of each set? You are correct. the first category says "Ballista - 7090 Crossbow Attack", so you make a ballista. You can also change around the factions that own the thing, so you don't have to use evil skeletons at all, obviously. Quote
blueandwhite Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I was hoping for something like this *sweet* Seriously, I think this is going to spark some utterly fantastic MOCing! I'm just waiting for some clarity on the rules before I begin. I'm wondering if the MOCs should conform to a set aesthetic. The castle I'm working on (ready for any seige) is by no means set-like in appearance or scale. Quote
Norro Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 . The castle I'm working on (ready for any seige) is by no means set-like in appearance or scale. That's surprising X-D ! ;-) Thanks for posting this here Bruce! God Bless, Nathan Quote

Here's a quote from the Architect admin @ CC Ok, here are a few notes of clarification:The Categories are: Ballista Joust Catapult Prisoner Wagon Tower Castle Siege All entries need two opposing factions. These factions should be some version of good vs evil. Feel free to create your own unique factions or use classic ones from the past. Just make sure we know which soldiers belong to which faction. Ideas for bad guys include skeletons, undead, giants, dragons, bad men (such as Shadow Knights) etc. Good guys should be some form of heroic knights/soldiers. Have a minimum of one figure from each of your factions in the creation. For example you could make a shadow knight siege ballista attacked by a group of forestmen. Where did these criteria come from? CC Contest categories are always based on the prize being given away. In this case the prizes are new 2007 Castle sets. Creations should not be direct copies of the sets or themes, but they should be influenced by the concepts found in the sets. does this mean the winners get the sets before they even come out? Yes. Winners could quite possibly be the first fans to get their hands on a new set. Is this the final box art in the pictures provided? The pieces we see are the pieces we'd be getting? Yes. So just to clarify - anything that could fit under the title of say "Joust" can be put into the joust competition - for instance - two dragons jousting? Yes if one dragon was good and another bad. Also, I take it there are no scale restrictions at all (eg a siege scene taking 10 baseplates would be equaly considered to something micro-built? ) Creations should feature minifigures or be in minifigure scale (if you are using mythical creatures). Creating very large entries could harm your score since we will have a hard time seeing all of it in 3 800x600 pixel photos. I too would like a bit of clarity. Specifically, does one of the factions involved in the seige have to be an army of the undead? No, it just has to be an opposing faction. Ben CC Contest Admin P.S. I will work on updating and clarifying the contest pages this weekend before we start accepting entries on Monday. If you have any further questions you can also check out the CC thread about this specific topic: castle contest P Quote
DARKspawn Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Good luck all - this is going to be an amazing contest :D I have already started to plan for it! Quote
blueandwhite Posted March 5, 2007 Posted March 5, 2007 Unfortunately, I've discovered that there are size limitations for the contest. I guess that means I won't be able to enter with any of my current projects. Hopefully I'll have time to work up something that is more in scale. Quote
ellerb Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 I want to give this thread a friendly bump ;-) The LEGO Castle Contest will be ending in less than two weeks. Currently there are only 5-10 entries per category. This means that anyone has a good shot at winning. Each category winner will receive one of the brand new LEGO Castle sets before anyone can buy them in stores. Check out the prizes: http://www.classic-castle.com/events/conte...st1/prizes.html Submit you entries soon! Ben CC Contest Admin Quote
Starwars4J Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Sigh, what a time to be away from my bricks! With so few entries the odds are tempting indeed! If only I had a few more weeks ;-) Ah well, I'll just have to participate in the next one. Good luck to all who enter! I envy you *sweet* Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 EB also has a friendly contest here: Wizard's Challenge Quote
DARKspawn Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Perhaps a post on Classic Castle might be warranted ... I'll check it out & create one if someone (probably Steve ;-)) hasn't already. Quote
