Leo604 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23095529 The latest instalment in the Terminator franchise will be the first in a stand-alone "rebooted" trilogy. Paramount Pictures said the fifth Terminator film, based on the original series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is due to be released in June 2015. There was no official confirmation on who would direct or star in the forthcoming film. However Schwarzenegger revealed earlier this month he would be returning to the role that made him a household name. Speaking at an event in Sydney, Australia, the former governor of California said: "I'm very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star as the Terminator, which we start shooting in January." Schwarzenegger starred in the first three Terminator films - released in 1984, 1991 and 2003 - which grossed more than $1bn (£655m) at the global box office. A computer-generated version of the actor appeared in 2009's Terminator Salvation, which starred Christian Bale and Sam Worthington. The new film will be penned by Shutter Island screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis and Drive Angry's Patrick Lussier. With a release date scheduled for 26 June, the movie will join a slew of summer blockbusters, coming out a week before Independence Day 2 and two weeks ahead of Pirates of the Caribbean 5. Star Wars - Episode 7 is also due to be released around the same time. Hopefully this actually wraps up the whole Skynet arc. Quote
DPrime Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Without Cameron, I'm not sure how good it will be... if they can get a real talented, visionary director I'm all for it. In the meantime, I'm quite happy to consider Terminator and T2 the only "real" Terminator movies. :) Quote
Leo604 Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 I thought the 3rd was alright; set the tone for the future war between humans and Skynet. Terminator Salvation, though....gah. Quote
Scorpiox Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 (edited) Pretty excited for this, as a huge fan of the original series. Arnie's return is a good start, and hopefully we'll soon see some excellent writing to match. Salvation left a lot of loose ends that need wrapping up. (How the living hell does Skynet alter its creation when Dyson is stopped? Surely that would just remove its existence in the future, as opposed to simply being created 'initially' in a different way?") I thought the 3rd was alright; set the tone for the future war between humans and Skynet. Terminator Salvation, though....gah. I'd have to agree. The first and second are definitely the best story-wise. The third runs a little bit too quickly, but ultimately fits in rather well with the others. Salvation seems a film created with good-intentions, but largely poor execution. Edited June 28, 2013 by Scorpiox Quote

gryffindorcommonroom Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 Ugh. Please stop butchering movies that should not be touched no matter what. Don't ruin it, por favor. Quote
Palathadric Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I only saw Terminator Salvation. I believe it's the only Hollywood film that I fell asleep watching. Quote
Leo604 Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 I only saw Terminator Salvation. I believe it's the only Hollywood film that I fell asleep watching. Go watch at least the first two, they are far superior. Third one too, if you have time. Quote
gryffindorcommonroom Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 I only saw Terminator Salvation. I believe it's the only Hollywood film that I fell asleep watching. Dear Lord, go see the first two. Fast. Quote
Darth Dino Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 (edited) I only saw Terminator Salvation. I believe it's the only Hollywood film that I fell asleep watching. Lucky guy! Because now sou have the chance to discover something iconic. The Termminator and Terminator 2 are without no doubt completely different movies. Enjoy both and let us know how you like them. For myself: I became an Arnold fan seeing The Terminator. Edit: If you live i an country like Germany where they cut movies to make them. avaiable for TV and teens: Do not watch this. The Terminator have to be seen uncut! If not, you miss the Gargoyles Sunglasses scene. 8) Dino Edited July 20, 2013 by Darth Dino Quote
