Chuck Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 What exactly is your point here? This WOULD go in the Buy, Sell, Trade Board, but you aren't selling it and its not that rare of an item anyways. Also, if he dosn't know much about lego, whats wrong with him thinking its rare? -l2k- Quote

Vader Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Its very disturbing for this line alone 'these were my sons who sadly died last year', if thats true its very sad but the flip side of that is if its not true then its beyond disturbing. And that i believe is his point. Quote

I think he means that his son owned them before he died, but it looks like he forgot an apostrophe and is saying the lego sets were his sons. -l2k- Quote
Vader Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 >:-( Yes i understand that!!!!!! But what im pointing out is that he may just be saying that and it might not be true in an effort to sell the set. If that is the case then its just plain wrong. Quote
Starwars4J Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Like it's any better to sell his dead son's toys on ebay? This whole thing is just disturbing :-X This is definitely in the right place, as you're not selling anything ;-) His point, l2k, is that it was disturbing, and I'd say it fits under "General Discussion", though it equally could've gone in community, though that's often looked at as mainly non-Lego, so either is fine I think... ghoulrealm Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 If it's true, at least she is moving on with her life, making a bit of money, and most importantly not throwing them away! Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted February 27, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted February 27, 2007 This is so weird... I don't know what to think of this :-| Quote
Trionx Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Um, I think that this guy is: 1: trying to get noticed 2: trying VERY hard to sell this Item (which I'm not sure is his/hers) either way, the auction ended so shouldn't this topic be closed? One thing I would like to ask is if your kid died, why are you selling all his stuff? Plus why so soon? (the set you're selling only came out last fall) Quote
Starwars4J Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Not to mention what kid would keep it in the box in perfect condition... Quote
oo7 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Yeah this is probably a stupid atempt at getting people to buy her stuff. "My son died and it was sad so give me some sympathy and buy my items so I can be happy with a little more money". She has a bunch of other Lego auction too including anther Exo-Force Mech she calls 'VERY RARE' :-| . I find it so strange that she would use that obtrusive sounding title with the "L@@K" to express such a tragec event. Reminds me of that that book I read fairly recently, 'Red Kayak'. Quote
gylman Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 It is inconceivable to me, as a parent, that if one of my children died I would sell their toys on eBay. And advertise that it's my dead child's toy? No freaking way. Its a crock. Quote
Dark Brick Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 You know I just had to chime in. I agree with morris, 4J, and *vader* , this is quite possibly the most disturbing auction yet. If my child passed on I would create a sanctuary for the possessions that he/she enjoyed. Selling them away makes me believe that this person is taking advantage of peoples' hearts and minds just so he/she can make a buck. Of course I do not believe this person and I would never buy any items from him/her due to this type of deception to create sales. I have to say that this is not the first time that I have seen auctions where the seller uses someone's disability or death to gain attraction. In fact, there is one seller in particular that I found by chance that uses his son's Autism to attract buyers, he even has a picture of him in his auctions. If I find it again I will leave a link here on this thread. One more thing, l2k, you need to read a bit more into a posting, before you come to conclusions that are not warranted. Modulator or not, show some respect. >:-( DB Quote

Modulator or not, show some respect. >:-( I think that's a bit harsh... Lego2000 obviously thought Morris was saying it was disturbing because it looked like the seller was calling the Lego his 'sons'. If he came to that conclusion, I don't think 'reading it a bit more' would change that. That being said... I do find this auction quite disturbing. I find it sad that someone would act like their son died just to sell some Lego. Or if it is real, that someone would sell their dead son's Lego. :-/ Quote

Also, if he dosn't know much about lego, whats wrong with him thinking its rare? -l2k- l2k read it too fast, and assumed morris was displaying his ebay auction here, either that or figured morris thought it was a good find. Rather he was pointing out how disturbing the nature of the action was, completely missing why it was posted, and came out with an attitude at morris. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Ok wait, they have a bulk loose lot here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEGO-HALF-KILO-MIXED...1QQcmdZViewItem Then they have another bulk loose lot here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEGO-HALF-KILO-MIXED...1QQcmdZViewItem HI , FOR SALE I HAVE A HALF KILO + , MIXED LOT OF LEGO- YOU GET WHAT YOU SEE - SEE PHOTO FOR A BETTER IDEA ! - MINT CONDITION! SAME PICTURE IN BOTH AUCTIONS. This has got to be a scammer... or a hijacked account... or an accidental reuse of a picture instead of a different one? Quote

I though he was referring to this post: I think he means that his son owned them before he died, but it looks like he forgot an apostrophe and is saying the lego sets were his sons. Maybe I should start reading more slowly. :-P Quote
vahkimetru Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 That's just sad. If this is real then this person has a problem. He uses his poor son's death for marketing uses. If it's a scam, then that is one very bad way to advertise.... Quote
xenologer Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 *shrug* I can see giving away old junk in the attic that belonged to a deceased person. (to goodwill charity or something) So selling off on ebay isnt that far off. the real question is Do you want to buy Haunted Legos?? 8- Quote
vahkimetru Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I get the creeps when I think of childhood death. If I had that, I'd dream every night of some kid walking into my room and yelling in my ear: "WHY DO YOU HAVE MY LEGO???" Quote

If I had that, I'd dream every night of some kid walking into my room and yelling in my ear: "WHY DO YOU HAVE MY LEGO???" Yeah that would be scary. :-P Back to the topic, I noticed that in the Auction tital that he/she said that the set was "super rare" *wacko* I still have that set at my Target store! Quote
blueandwhite Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I don't believe for one moment that this woman has lost her son. It seems inconceivable that somebody would use their deceased son as a means of making a quick buck. To advertise the death of your son in order to bolster sympathy and generate higher bids is flat-out sick. Whether this woman did or did not lose her child is completely irrelevant. Quote

Zaktan of the Shadows Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 It is. This is very distrubing. Is this a joke? Cause i don't like it... -ZotS Quote
