Bregir Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Hi all Now finally a *finished* â„¢ build from my side. I tend to put down a few bricks on a plate to "sketch" out an idea, and then put it away... After getting the judge-minifigure, I thought my town needed a courthouse. (Plus, I wanted to try my hand with some pillars.) So here it is. Front view: I think the first floor exterior turned out pretty well. Rear view The back side has the 1x6 technic piece to allow the courthouse to form half of a corner building. (With a 16x32 corner building on any of the two sides.) The entrance. Of course, the doors work! :) And quite well, I think! And lastly, a shot with the pet shop for scale. The interiors are still work in progress. All comments are welcome. (Allthough, of course I hope you like it! ;) ) Bregir out Quote
eurotrash Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I like it and I like the way you've set it back from the street - it's a civic building and needs to have that space in front of it. My only suggestion would be to try and find a way to show the foot of the Dark Green window frame on the front facade - it doesn't look quite right with them being covered up by the Tan 1x's. Are those cell bars on the rear of the building? When you do the interior I hope you're going to build a holding cell for the prisoners! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I too like this modular building, I can't wait to see what's inside......Brick On 'Bregir' ! Quote
Kivi Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 A simple yet impressive building. I like the entrance and the small fenced area in front of it. Though it makes it look a bit empty when the building stands alone, but it has a great effect when positioned next to Pet Shop. Nice work! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I really like the entrance too. I don't like it for a courthouse per se, but I like the curved fencing and the steps/space from the sidewalk. I could see it for a restaurant or maybe another building. I like the idea of brickbuilt doors, but where are the handles? How can someone get into this courthouse? And maybe making the sidewalk the same as the rest of the modulars will help it blend a bit more. Everyone tries something fancy on the sidewalk (including the official sets), but I've rarely seen a sidewalk with so many fancy things. Good start. Keep up the good work. Quote

I will take a look at raising the windows a bit. To be honest, I am not perfectly happy about the first floor. And yes, that is indeed cellbars - and the idea is to do exactly that - build a holding cell. Further, I am planning a small police desk and an office for the judge, while the courtroom will be on the ground floor. I have many projects underway, so I don't know when I will return to the courthouse - but I'll keep you all posted :) I too like this modular building, I can't wait to see what's inside......Brick On 'Bregir' ! I am happy to hear you feel the same about the "set back" :) That was exactly my thoughts too. Thanks for the comment! I really like the entrance too. I can't see this entrance for a restaurant, personally, but anyways, I am happy you like it! I hadn't thought about the doorhandles - that might be included in version 1.1. (But for the record - the doors open both ways, so you can just push.... :P ) I changed the light grey to dark grey to make it fall in a bit more. Thanks for the comments, all! /Bregir out Quote
