pauldk Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) Hi folks. I haven't been in the forum for a while. Since I'm in the process of making a building in LDD, the question still remains. Is it still totally impossible to make custom parts/bricks for LDD? The windows in my building has to have a certain look to it, thin horizontal plates across the windows as you can see on the attached image. By placing the windows next to each other, it's going to look like the plates are covering the entire building. Edited June 24, 2013 by pauldk Quote
Calabar Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Using custom parts implies various thing to manage in LDD, and I don't think in this period of pure "maintenance" of the software the LDD Team will implement any feature of this kind. Beside, I had the feeling that the missing support to custom parts is a precise choice. About your problem, I'm not sure I've understood the point, could you add a screenshot from LDD? Quote
pauldk Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 I hope this image describes what I want. The flat tiles has to be a bit thinner and connects to the main window frame. Quote
Calabar Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I think the parts you are using are not adequate for the result you want to obtain. Or you find a window that already has this kind of subdivision, or you increase the scale and use a different approach. Even introducing a custom part I can't see how to properly connect it to the windows, maybe a grill that replaced the glass. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) What about creating a clear sticker to make 'horizontal bars'? Lego all ready make some windows with bars on them (sticker),but not all the way up to the top of the window, which are on Bricklink. Or you could try the plates with the 'door rail' and fix them from the inside. Edited June 24, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
pauldk Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Thanks for the replies folks. I have decided to use a door frame with glass in it for the highride part of the building. I found out that it took too many bricks and the computer got slower because of it. Quote
Nachapon Bricks Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 (edited) I tried to use scale bug of LDD 4.2.5 to fit 1x8 tile into the flame, but it didn't work because of collisions error. And the mod part can be open correctly only in LDD 4.2.5. ldd scale mod by Nachapon S., on Flickr Edited June 25, 2013 by bbqqq Quote
