Canticleer blues Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) Here's a small model I made testing some basic experimental techniques: Sonic Turret Set on Flickr The front of the turret was loosely inspired by the defense emplacements used by the humans in the classic 50's sci-fi movie Forbidden Planet (see this image). Designs like that emphasize the fact that guns in science fiction don't have to abide by the 'tube with firing chamber' design that reality's physics dictate; it's something I mean to keep in mind for the future. I'd also like to add that the 1x2 plate with pin hole and 1x4 top hinge plate were essential in getting the turret face to look exactly as planned. Next up'll be something a bit biggger with many more interesting details to look at. Until then, hope you enjoy this model! Edited June 24, 2013 by Canticleer blues Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Not bad weapon 'Canticleer blues', in Forbidden Planet they used pulse energy guns and battle turrets which actually fed the energy monster. Brick On Fight On 'Canticleer blues' ! Quote
tchuk-norst Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I like the idea of unconventional guns, I do have the same greivance with many sci-fi cannons. This little model would look great as part of a large base, I think. Quote
DraikNova Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Wow. The seat's connection to the actual turret is so uniquely made it's practically impossible to figure out. Quote
Only Sinner Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 This is the kind of weapon that will disorient the enemy resulting in severe dizziness and vomiting. Quote
DPrime Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Nice design - I do agree that there's no real reason we need to stick to traditional looking cannons for sci-fi weapons! Quote
