Hinckley Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 For Brickworld this year, our collaborative display theme was DaVinciPunk! or Steampunk with gears. This building housed the motor for my mechanical City Hall. It may fit better in the Sci-Fi forum but considering the architecture, I'd rather discuss it in the Town Forum. The marketplace, being in Vetruvia, the world of DaVinci, is the market where Jesus and his disciples shopped for their last supper. The building on the left is the City Hall, which I posted in a separate topic. At the convention, I lowered the dome, because I thought it looked more accurate for the Mannerist style: Quote
Canticleer blues Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) Interesting look here. It doesn't have the same 'wow' factor as the city hall, to be honest, but that doesn't mean there aren't a few clever touches here. I applaud that integration of the dome, for instance- it's always difficult to use pieces with nonstandard connection points, but this dome looks natural in its tower perch. Arches are used tastefully (I like the 2x2 round plates used under the PoP arch), and the use of studded plates as an accent is refreshing in this era where studlessness is more common. All in all it's a great compliment to the town hall, and of course the DaVinviPunk! town as a whole. Edited June 24, 2013 by Canticleer blues Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Very 1500's looking structure, excellent designing.....Brick On 'Hinckley' ! Quote
kermit Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I like the stone work look to the building on the sides and the floor inside. Very lovely building indeed. How did you get that bhalf of the planet to stick on the top to form a dome....that is a nice touch by the way. Quote

Wedge09 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Realy nice work  I like in particularly the decorations on the edges of the walls Quote
eurotrash Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I think of all the Da Vinci Punk builds that this is my favorite. It's not colossal, it's not monumental, but it has a human (minifig?) scale to it. I love the facade - it's really well detailed. And the roof (have you got a Palace Theatre missing a few pieces). Oh, and the color palate you chose was perfect. Great job! Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Very good, as the others. The thing I like most here is that all the houses have their own style and there is a good us of colour in them. No nitpicks here, really? Yes. Quote
